The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I look at it this way, if I'm going to eat food that's going to kill me, I'm going to have something better than a fake meat McDonalds burger. For a fast food burger in my area, it's really hard to top Culvers.

A Hangar 9 airplane that doesn't go together well, call me shocked! ;) The 60cc P51, the 60cc P3 Revolution, and the 120cc Extra 300X are all severely lacking in the quality control department.

I've been known to read a dozen or so books in a row and then not read another for months. I'm strange that way, I go in cycles.

This is the only model airplane related work I've done so far in 2018. I drilled a few holes in an ammo can to make a Lipo box and did a bad spray can job with Rustoleum Hammered finish paint that didn't turn out hammered looking.

It looked familiar because I built a Byron Corsair with one running a Quadra 50 in 1994. Unfortunately I never got to hear it run or see it fly since the guy I built it for was from Mexico. He didn't want me to test run it because he was afraid the gas smell would cause problems in customs.

Oh I used them alright, or I should say tried to use them. Between the two (which were bought at the same time) they were in 4 different airplanes. They were total garbage. you couldn't keep them running to save your life. They both made trips back for service with no change. They were the most...

Alert! Is HOBBICO Next? Hobbico files for bankruptcy

I had a lot of OS and other brands over the years. Most of the OS engines were fine as sport engines. I have 2 OS 120 Surpass engines that never qualified for more than paper weight status. I was never a fan of their ducted fan engines, of course once you ran the BVM/Nelson .91 all else paled...

That looks like a Byron "Purr'n Power mount that they had for their Corsair.

It's 64 here right now with ridiculous humidity. The concrete floor in my shop is sweating horribly. The low tonight is supposed to be 18 with snow and ice and all the nasty stuff. I hate winter.:(

Unfortunately if you want to do a nice job welding thinner aluminum your into a pretty costly AC TIG welder. A MIG just doesn't cut it on thin aluminum. There are specialized rods for gas welding aluminum that kind of work sometimes, and spool guns for MIG welding aluminum that are great if the...

I would be kicking myself for not getting a flu shot this year, but they're saying the shot is only working on 10% of the people anyway. Luckily the flu so far has been easier than the sinus infection and the tooth. Friday I was hoping someone would kill me and put me out of my misery, but I'm...
