    3D EMHW 2.15 Ultimate

The motorbox was a challenge. They supply a really cool design where the sides start with a wide base on the first bulk head and taper into a small firewall just barely big enough for the DA 100 mounting holes which come pre-drilled. The angles in the motorbox sides give both the right...

    3D EMHW 2.15 Ultimate

Built a tank mount. Changed my mind about running two tanks side by side, so going with one. Glued the mount together with wood glue and epoxied it to the carbon tubes. I'll add some sticky back velcro and secure it with zip ties. It would have been better to plan it from the beginning and...

    The rumors are TRUE!!

People are emotionally invested in brands and when they hear unsourced news like that they're going to have a reaction. People getting upset is the least surprising thing about this. On a somewhat related note I've got a bunch of sources telling me DA and 3W are going to merge.

ZDZ USA Is Bringing ZDZ Brand Back to the US! Whoo Hoo!

Older video, would have been the cast crankcase. Think they just started selling the CNC crankcase for the 112. 21x52x60mm

ZDZ USA Is Bringing ZDZ Brand Back to the US! Whoo Hoo!

Here's a picture, don't have a weight, but it doesn't seem heavy at all. Does JMB sell compact mufflers for tight forward clearance?

ZDZ USA Is Bringing ZDZ Brand Back to the US! Whoo Hoo!

The ZDZ recommendation off Joe's site and the octane info off the Wikipedia for octane.

ZDZ USA Is Bringing ZDZ Brand Back to the US! Whoo Hoo!

91 should be perfectly fine. They list n95 which is the lower of the two grades they sell over there and their measurement system is typically 4-6 more than what we see at the pump for the same gas. It looks like I was wrong to recommend 93 as that would be roughly equivalent to their n98...

ZDZ USA Is Bringing ZDZ Brand Back to the US! Whoo Hoo!

Av gas has a much higher octane than they recommend. I'd use 93ish pump gas. I also wouldn't want to be standing behind a plane running avgas of any octane (warming it up). There's no good way to avoid breathing several fairly toxic compounds relative to pump gas.

ZDZ USA Is Bringing ZDZ Brand Back to the US! Whoo Hoo!

The bolt pattern is the same and they all have rectangular ports. Maybe not be the exact same shape. The cylinder offset is opposite DA 100 if there are any asymmetrical options out there. Not sure if volume would make a difference using 100 size mufflers on a 112. I think they had a 112...

Prop failure....... Have you had one??

I forget to take a picture, but it was more chunk than blade shaped. Scary if it few that far. Right in the middle of the field.

Prop failure....... Have you had one??

Mowed the field and found a chunk of the Falcon right in the middle. Might have fallen off the plane during landing, otherwise it flew about 150 yards from the disintegration.

Prop failure....... Have you had one??

Haha, sadly for the plane that A-10 cannon is a surprisingly close approximation. The plane basically turned into a speaker turned up about 10x past the failure point. I think it would have killed just about anything. Wings looked rock solid though:D

Prop failure....... Have you had one??

It made a really loud, unnatural sound. Sounded like this:

Looks like nice stuff. I compared the kit bolts to some confirmed stainless bolts I have and they aren't the same. Not sure what the kit bolts are, but they're soft. Only think it will make a difference on those blind nuts for the gear, the rest of the hardware looks really nice. Anyone have...

    3D EMHW 2.15 Ultimate

Bookmarked: https://rtlfasteners.com/ I'll use them for the RC truck, always shearing bolts on that thing.. This actually was really easy once I had steel bolts. The bolts in the kit are uncharacteristically poor quality compared to everything else. The hexes aren't even close to centered on...

    3D EMHW 2.15 Ultimate

Thanks poprlite, the steel bolts did it. After redrilling the outer holes in the gear to put the blind nuts in an area I could grab them with a wrench the new steel bolts went it easy. Took about 3 minutes to install them. Lesson learned. No stainless bolts when when force needs to be...

    3D EMHW 2.15 Ultimate

Thanks guys! Ran into the first bit of frustration so far..against my better judgement I attempted to secure the blind nuts for the gear with the included bolts and discovered the bolts are way too soft for the challenge. Even with fresh allen drivers they strip really easily and it takes a...

    3D EMHW 2.15 Ultimate

Lots of sanding. Blended the balsa structure that fits above the lower wing. This will be sheeted over. Put the upper deck together. It includes two pieces of heavy birch ply the carbanes will be mounted to. Surprisingly difficult to sand down and flush even with 60 grit on a heavy stick...

    3D EMHW 2.15 Ultimate

Disaster Strikes! Well not bad, one of my brand new clamps cracked in half and snapped down on the frame messing the wood up a bit right at an anti rotation point. Wicked thin CA into it and may reinforce it with a backing, we'll see how it feels when the glues dry. Edit: Pics of what I meant...

    3D EMHW 2.15 Ultimate

Went by the shop for a few hours and snuck in a little sanding jig for the radius on the edges of the tailfeathers. My rip a 17mm hole in half idea wasn't happening as I wanted a longer jig than the drill press has travel. Found a round router bit and in two easy passes had a decent half moon...
