Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

A piece of KS brass tube makes a great axle captured between two pieces of plywood. For the mold, it is already waxed. I use PVA for release film but there are easier products to use. I understand Loctite 700-NC works great, 700-NC . I plan to purchase this product next. Cut a piece of...

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

That was the same path I took when I built the Super Cub. I used CB Associates #CB5647 pulleys, don't why I didn't make them? Nice lathe project.

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

I wet sanded the mold with 1500 and 2500, the marks are still there and as I study the mold I'm quite confident the marks were there all along. As I think back my friend who I was building the plane for owned a hobby shop and gave me all of his old stock of Hobby Poxy when Pettit quit the...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

I'm using the blanket method and the Champ lacks a center stringer so it works out better to do the tail separate. Notice in the photo how the leading edge of the rudder just disappears into the space between the two top stringers. The sides and the top are simple to do, there's more work in...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

The bias cut tape worked great, one shot and done. I think I will buy a few more pairs just in case they quit making them.
  16. TonyHallo

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

I'm continuing detailing the tail and loving the 3 MM shears. Can't wait to try the bias cut tape. Out of fabric ordered more, it's on the way, hope it comes quick

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

I have covered three planes with fabric. Without a doubt the most difficult area is the transition between the vertical fin and the fuselage. You really can't stretch fabric like Monokote. When putting on the finishing tape it's really tough using the precut F&M tape since it is cut straight...
