The I'm NOT going out flying thread.

October is usually my favorite weather time of the year here. The first two weeks have sucked bad. it's either 50's and raining or hot and humid. Saturday it's supposed to be windy and 90 and Sunday calls for wind rain and 60's. The forecast for early next week looks great. I think I can see a...

I fly off grass as well and this is the only airplane I've destroyed the wheel pants on. I should have known better than to leave their tiny stock wheels on. I always go to a bigger wheel, but this time I didn't. I also mount the pants a little higher when I can, and that's exactly what I'm...

Nothing accomplished in the shop tonight, but some parts are starting to show up to get my Hangar 9 120cc Extra 300X back in the air. The new wheel pants and 4.5" wheels came today, but I'm still waiting on the new custom landing gear, I'm hoping I'll get them next week. I need to fly this thing...

The problem seems to be a dead spot in the motor. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't. I had it all apart last night and everything looks fine.

It seems my Miracle RC electric fuel pump has decided to start going south. Anyone have any thoughts on an affordable replacement that won't light me on fire?

Back in the day, the owner of Circus Circus casino used to be involved in RC. Their airplanes were mostly pink and cool as hell, or so I thought.

It's amazing what some people want to pass off as "Nearly new" It makes no difference how good of quality something started life as since there are people out there that can ruin an anvil with a tack hammer. There's a guy in our club that this year (so far) has ruined two DLE 120's and two DLE...

That's a huge weight difference. The DA70 only weighs .4 pounds more than the 60 before the extra muffler and small differences in the ignition weights.

Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

The weather guessers (meteorologists) missed it again today, the forecasted 7 mph wind for this morning was actually 17. Most of the Sunday diehards were there anyway, though I think we did more jaw flapping than flying. I did get one flight on Miss Moana. I need to lean it out a tad, but it...

That's cool! Back when design was more than just function, it was about aesthetics as well.

I took Miss Moana outside today to test the carb rebuild. It seems to run pretty well. It did have a slight intermittent miss when wide open, not bad, but noticeable. I'm hoping it was the plug, it was flooding itself so bad last week the plug is probably toast. I put a new CM6 in it tonight so...

That sounds like the difference between my 30% Pilot Edge and my Aeroworks Extra 300. Same engine, header, radio, servos, batteries, fuel tank, and even wheels. The ONLY difference was the Extra had a tuned pipe and the Edge had a can. Pilot Edge 17.5 pounds Aeroworks Extra 19.75 pounds. That's...

30.5 to be exact.:( With everything as far forward as I could get it it still needed 12 ounces to make it balance. If I went to stock mufflers that would knock off a pound instantly, plus I'm sure I would be able to loose a bunch of the nose weight since the canisters move the CG aft. The...

I just ordered some new wheel pants to go with my new gear and wheels. I was going to fix the broken wheel pant, but a new set from Horizon with tax and shipping was only $25.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

No real work in the shop tonight, but I did manage to spend some money by ordering some custom landing gear for my Hangar 9 Extra 300X. The factory gear proved not to be up to the task for the fat girls 30 pounds and a grass field. So, I decided to have Tom and TNT Landing Gear make a new custom...
