    Scale Don Smith P-51 Mustang

Heck ya. Why not? I am certain I can get over to the Warhawk Museum this week. I can get some photos of the P40 and the "B" Mustang. But getting over to Boise is another story. I can get over there ok. It is just a matter of getting in touch with the owner of the "D" and him having time to come...

That's pretty awesome of you David. I greatly appreciate your offer. However, The Warhawk Air Museum is about 8 minutes from my door step. There lives a Stang and a P40. Both fully restored and flyable. At the Boise airport 8 minutes the other direction from home lives a beautiful "D". Also...

One question is it a bubble canopy or a raiser back "X,A,B,C" models=razor back. "D thru H" model=bubble.

Then again, I could go with the Blonde. Since my little sweetie is a gorgeous blonde, I suppose I could live with it. LOL

Something else that is going to make this build a little easier. My son just set up one hell of a nice air compressor with paint system attached. We are going to try our luck at shooting the Wings West paint from a paint gun. Only thing that worries me is, if I go this route I will need to glass...

Hot damn, that is sexy for sure. Yes, most definitely I am interested. Thanks. I was originally going to do the first "Thunder Mustang" Scheme. But now, I am really starting to think an amazing WWII scheme would be better suited. How do you think she would look with red hair?

You're really awesome David. But... hee hee, I called them over a month and a half ago. Full out main and tail gear with all electric equipment for doors, the whole nine yards... $1200.00. I thought that was a pretty darn good price.

No, not yet. I figure by mid Oct. or Nov. I will make the final decision between the 110 or the 135 Kolm. Really not a lot of difference in price. Either one will take a huge bite outta my wallet. Lol

Or... I could get really crazy and add a custom prop reduction unit to swing a "really" big, (and scale) 4 blade prop. Scale would be a 33" four blade. (Hamilton standard was roughly 11feet on the full scale) 11x12"÷4(1/4 scale)=33". That is so doable for this plane.

The plans call for a 5.8 c.i. (95cc) I have a nearly new 3w 85cs which would probably fly it. But not like I want. A fellow put a 3w 150 on the front of his and broke the firewall out. A lot of my decision on a suitable power plant is going to be on how well I can "beef" the firewall area up. If...

Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

So back when I bought my first trailer, before I even ordered it. I asked a lot of people for their opinion. And it always came down to a single axle. I even talked to a gent that had broken two planes in half because his trailer suspension was too rigid. I went with the single axle and honestly...

Why laugh? This is a hobby right? We do what we want, when we want, the way we want. Btw, my buddy with all those exotic, elegant, expensive European motors put a big Saito radial on his Big Stick. Not as big as yours but a radial all the same. I say, "Do it"! You know you want to.
