Reza has been here for a week and he's already giving stuff away! RED LINE OIL!

Must be nice. We went for 4 years averaging less that 2 inches per year when we normally get 17-18. Three of the bigger lakes in the region that had supplied water to Amarillo and Lubbock and all the smaller towns have been officially labeled as dry - less than 2% capacity. Don't know what...

    DLE 85

Just got in my J'Tec Pitts muffler. I'll be mounting it this weekend and run it up on my test stand. Should be able to post, low and top end rpm, and EGT shortly afterwards. By the way - Al and Kevin at J'Tec were more than helpful. :)

Same here. The last rain storms that came through here were moving at 45mph. Needless to say, didn't even wet the ground.

Reza: take me out of the running for the oil drawing. I was able to order 4 bottles of red line from Amazon for a decent price. If I was able to help in some small way, that's all I care about!!

Here's the email I got from Red Line: Hi Steve, Thank you so much for your kind email. Reza and Desert Aircraft have been great ambassadors for Red LIne, so we try to support them in any way we can. I've heard many good things from RC airplane pilots about our Two-Stroke Racing Oil. We strive...

I just got a reply from their marketing person. I'll post the content later this evening.

My pleasure!! They could become a huge part of what we do if they were interested. My club puts on the West Texas Warbirds every September and most of the pilots that come are flying gasoline engines. I'll put up a banner and give them the opportunity to be a sponsor if they're interested.

I didn't wait for Reza to relpy - If you have a personal contact, I'll re-send this. But here's what I sent to the email address on the Redline website: There has been much debate in the RC airplane community about which oil is best for our high performance 2-stroke gasoline engines. There...

That's awesome. Is there anyone we can contact at Redline to express our appreciation for their support? I believe that when you're given something you should say "thank you".

Yeah, like Stangflyer said: 'Nough said!!!! That's all I needed to push me over the decision hump. I've got several bottle of Amsoil and Stihl Ultra for sale if anybody's interested.

I have never used Redline because I can't get it locally. I've used Shindawa, Amzoil and Stihl Ultra. Of those 3, I prefer the Stihl. I would love to use Redline, and stick with one oil for all of my engines. Even if I don't get any of the free stuff, I've read enough to know that it's great...

    Scale Plans built P-51

If you look at the last picture of the fuselage, you'll see that I still have to sheet the top. I wanted to practice a little before I articulated this particular technique so I'm just now getting around to it. I cut a piece of 3/16ths x 3 in half, tapered one edge and glued it to the side...

    Scale Plans built P-51

Here's a picture of what I've accomplished so far tonight. I recut all the notches for the spars so that I could use 1/2x3/8ths hardwood spars. I cut the spars from pieces of 1/2 x 6 x 48 poplar using my table saw. That was the only size of 1/2" wood in the entire Home Depot. But, it turned...

    Scale Plans built P-51

22 ribs cut! I'm tired! So much for being faster than cutting the paper templates. But, they have to be right and the left side has to match the right. So, you put 2 pieces of 1/8th sheet together and cut and sand them 2 at a time.

    Scale Plans built P-51

Ok here's a couple of pictures of the elevator halves and the rudder. Like I put in the post just above, these parts (as well as the ailerons and flaps) are built on a core. You cut out the outline of the pieces on 1/8th or 3/16ths balsa, add the leading edge, use the plans for the length of...

    Scale Plans built P-51

Finished the elevators and rudder tonight. Had to get those done while I'm waiting on some more lumber to arrive on Thursday. I'll take some pictures and post them tomorrow. I'm really pleased with the way they turned out. Next up is the wing. I think cutting the ribs out is the next thing...

    Scale Plans built P-51

I don't know if you can tell or not, but this is the straightest control surface I've ever built. And the elevators are the same way. I've been dreading building the flaps and ailerons, but with the success I had with the split rib method of construction, I have no doubt that they will go...

    Scale Plans built P-51

Here's the rudder. I thought this was going to be as simple as the elevators, but was not. The bottom of the rudder is supposed to be solid balsa block. What I've learned from other scratch building projects is that if the distance from the CG to the tail is, say, 4 times the distance as from...

    JR 921 receivers

Seems like the polarity issue is the most logical answer. I'll have to figure out what I was doing wrong, because I did it consistently on multiple trials with 2 different receivers. I'll bet it's in the control box for the retracts. I'll check and let everyone know. Could be a learning...
