Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

The pinking tape sold by F&M is just about 3 mm, would be great for making odd sized patches and such. Just wondering why you are cutting the tape rather than buying from F&M? Each rib takes about 4' of tape, that is a lot of cutting.

Scale Mick Reeves 1/3 scale Tiger Moth

No I have the boxer. I see they offer two versions of the inline, 180 degree firing and 270 degree. Apparently the 270 degree provides a classic warbird sound.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I found 8" x 8" x 1/4" steel plate on Ebay today for about $8 each, bought two to mount the grinder on the work bench. It will be hinged so that it swings down when not in use. Thank you David for getting me moving.

I was at Harbor Freight yesterday looking at their grinder stand, $69. My 6" grinder is sitting on the floor, when I need to use it I set it on a stool, need to get it mounted.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Got a little time yesterday on the Champ, working on the landing gear. As previously posted the new gear is 3/4" longer. The original design used 4-40 screws as the hinge pins and hinged portion was riding on the threads, never cared for that so I decided to fit the main struts with 1/4" brass...

PM Research Mini Engine Lathe Build

I sent it you in a conversation, I would image it is copywrite. I used brass bars from McMaster Carr, 1/4" x 6" and 3/8" X 6". when the angle was milled the the bars warped as the outer skin was removed. Took some time messing with them taking alternate cuts. If I knew then I would have...

PM Research Mini Engine Lathe Build

I don't know what size mine is but will hold 1/2" tool. I run my lathe at 400 rpm just about for everything, rarely do I change speeds. I would think your lathe already has a carriage lock, I just added a bolt so I didn't need to use an allen wrench.

PM Research Mini Engine Lathe Build

Steven, In regards to rigidity, two of the best mods are a solid 4 bolt tool pot holder and tapered gibs on the carriage. I did the 4 bolt tool post holder as soon as I got the lathe and just recently di the gib mod. It was shown in the August edition of the "The Home Shop Machinist" for the...

Nice work Steven. On these hobby lathes you will find it difficult to use form tools due to chatter, you are better off doing it off hand and filing to the final shape. At least that's has been my experience.

My wife tested positive for COVID before Christmas, I came down with same symptoms next day so we both missed Christmas with our family and have been in exile since then. Didn't feel very well so I can't tell you just how many movies I have watched since then. Didn't have much desire to work...
