Made a little widget for hinging the ailerons, it guides the cutter 1/16" below the wing surface. Got the cutter at the Toledo show several years ago ironically from a fellow not far from my home, don't remember what they were called but they work great. This is the 1/4scale cutter measuring...

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

The VEE on the Cub can be both directions, not sure what year they switched. Fairly sure the Super Cubs are an upright VEE. Attached are photos from the Piper museum with an inverted VEE, I believe this was an early version. At some point the VEE was made upright.

On larger pieces it losses it's effect and you end up with more goo at least that was my experience so I started to mechanically remove as much as i could. Cut the right aileron free with a knife then cut the bevel on the aileron in the bandsaw, added blocking for the hinges and installed the...

Thank you Rick, I do enjoy posting. Tried a different method to remove the foam today. I've tried melting with several different solvents, drilling, and digging out, at the end of the day the foam is out but it's not fun. Today I put a loop of copper wire in the soldering iron and cut the foam...

A Stanley Furform made quick work of the foam, a little sanding and ready for glass. Will add another layer of 6 ounce cloth and it will be ready to dig the foam out

The right wing extension is complete. I will fill the extension with low expansion foam because that's right where the plane will be picked up. While the fuselage is stilled jigged on the side two 1/2" holes were drilled for the locating pins. These will be fitted with 1/2" hardwood dowels...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

There is a very detailed build on the universe kit building by a fellow named Vincent, check it out. I think he used a DLE 20 and had a custom exhaust made for it. At last report it has not flown yet. Very nice scheme.

Another favorite of mine, had a SIg Bonanza in the late 80's, Como .60, Carl Goldberg retracts, flew very well. It was the first plane I built that had a foam wing, what a plane to start with! Thank God for the great instructions provided by Sig. What are your plans for finishing?

Trimmed and sanded the root rib to shape and began the wing extension. Made a few prototype flap hinges today, first time working with G10, learned a few things along the way, more fiddling is necessary. Grandsons are coming over after school and staying the night, my shift has ended!

The lite ply root rib was cut about 1/4" big with material included for the wing extension. 1"x 1" x 1/2" balsa blocks were inset in the foam for the locating pins, Gorilla glue applied to the foam side and the root rib was wetted to promote foaming. The wing was weighted in place while the...

More of the same. The small gap at the back will get filled with balsa, the leading and trailing edges installed then the 1/8 lite ply root rib will be added along with the wing extensions. Going to cut and finish the ailerons and flaps before installing the full sheeting over the inner 4...

I have the fuselage on it's side to fit the right wing panel, the fuselage is screwed to a 2" x 8" at the firewall and blocked level. Made a little wigget to mark the wing, 3/4" high with a piece of 1/32" plywood to fit under the gap on the bottom. Once marked the contour was cut with a saw.

It is a 19 mm hex, the diameter of the pipe is 15mm. The threads are very fine on the flare nut. I would image the threads are 17mm diameter.
