Help! What size tank for 50cc Yak54

I would think any 30-33% yak gear would work. Here's a shot in the dark for you. Get hold of Steve at Chief Aircraft (Oregon). Surprising as it may be, he still has like 51 c.f. landing gear for my SD 260. He may have something to fit. Aviation should be spot on with Thunder Tiger, TOC, SD.

Naaa.... I've looked at those plans enough to realize it is not a build I want to attempt when I have other projects in the works. It is definitely a build that will take every ounce of devotion and tenacity. Also, I am still out on the limb in deciding which engine I want up front pulling it...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

I had just enough Ultracote White covering to get the left stab/elevator covered. Darn it anyway. I was hoping I had enough to get the other stab/elevator and rudder covered. Oh well, I guess I can get a single roll for those remaining surfaces. At least I got a start on it. I decided to "seal"...

Help! What size tank for 50cc Yak54

This is pretty awesome. Nothing like taking something used and making it all new and your own. I applaud you for taking on the task. By the way, which tank did you purchase? I am kind of partial to the TDRC tanks. Even though I go through and remove the fuel tubing supplied and replacing it with...

And speaking of covering, I am going to start covering the tail surfaces this evening. "IF" I have enough white to start. I managed a little time with the 330 tail surfaces this morning. I discovered something that perhaps many of you already know, but I myself did not realize. In really...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Thanks... I appreciate the comments and following. But really not that too expensive to recover. When I recovered Baby, I think I was somewhere around 160.00 dollars for covering. Total investment on Baby including covering was 560.00 dollars. Now I will say however that the 330 is...

Help! What size tank for 50cc Yak54

Ah heck, don't listen to those guys. 17 ounces is not near enough. Hack out room for a monster 50 ouncer and do an endurance flight. You might be low on fuel and have to land next year. LOL....just kidding. All the above mentioned are correct. 17 ounces is more than enough fuel for a normal 10...

Thank you... I appreciate it. On a plane that size, added maybe a couple or so ounces. On a 40 center, I would bet those couple of ounces would turn into a couple of pounds. Naa....forget it Rob. Just don't even go there. Put the thought outta your head. Besides, You know how much you love...

I am curious... (my mind seems to be wired as such these days-so many possibilities)... Do you have an idea of weight difference between painting with your method vs. covering? I would really be interested to know. (You know where this is going don't you?)

OMG, I absolutely LOVE it. Now I "KNOW" I want one. As for weight? I think you're going to be just fine. My foamy comes in at 27.6 ounces. And I am running 3s 2200mah packs. This could be the perfect solution to my problem.

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

So, where were we? Ah yes...making the 330 stabs/elevators and rudder naked. Nothing really too entailed about this process so I won't go into it too deep. Basically just do the reverse of your covering process. Remove the tops of the stabs/elevators then the bottoms and lastly the end caps...

Ok, here ya go Snoop..... Just a couple of photos of the way my son and I do our "BIG" birds. Well, actually it comes in handy on 35centers also. I think my Lil Yak-Ster will also get this set up as it is not so big or heavy. Just really no place to get hold of it without risking breaking all...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

True... However my son and I have devised several methods to prohibit any breakage. I'll get some photos this evening and post them. Absolutely no reason to lift from the bottom. Plus, an advantage is they are easier to maneuver in tight places.
