The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Get ready to fly all day on 8oz of fuel! I saw a video of a guy flying one with a dle20 (converted) performance looked great! Now I have an excuse to get the blue/white scheme....

    Engine choice?

I think a cub with a large wing loading should be able to handle the weight anyways. Check this out from another build here. Maybe @Patto can chime in with the autostart https://www.giantscalenews.com/threads/hostetler-cessna-336-skymaster.7673/page-24

    Engine choice?

If you need weight up front, might as well make it smart weight. The EME 70cc from what I hear is very reliable, and it's heavier than the DA70... very hard to beat the EME 70cc for the price. DA70 is 55grams more than the DLE60 (engine only) Which is under 1/8lb more than the 60 depending on...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

It would make too much sense for TopFlight/Monokote to list the product manual on their website, I found this on Tower Hobbies that explains how to use this thing: http://manuals.hobbico.com/top/topr2400-manual.pdf Basically, you use it to make a strait covering cut for overlaps along seams by...

Hmmm I can even understand how it works. It’s Top Flight brand. I see the two xacto blades. But the angle throws me off

Can someone tell me what this one is used for? Thanks! Also. @Xpress is this even worth keeping around? I don’t have a programmer yet. This one seems dated but new. HFP-10

nope, there was a CG chipmunk mostly built that someone took though. There was a box for plans of a 87" Chipmunk... no Idea the MFGR. Just looked online and I cannot find a 87" chipmunk. They had a garage sale this morning. Don't think the kits were looked at too hard. The grandson said they...

Sig still makes the little bugger for about $125 USD. https://sigmfg.com/collections/sig-kits/products/sig-astro-hog-kit YS-120 & Saito 150!!! Your are power hungry my friend! Floats are quickly becoming my new pastime. Nothing beats a calm day of float flying. Sounds like a 20cc gas engine...

Funny... I wasn’t planning on it. I stayed there and helped clean up with them. Threw away a bunch of stuff that I knew was worthless. They said if you see anything else just take it. I took the Astro-Hog ha ha ha!

Well.... I spent five bills. Five boxes of balsa, one box of spruce, box of wire, box of Nelson covering, eight gold-n-rod bags, box of K&S tubes, box of misc hardwood blocks, box of tires, box of miscellaneous hardware, box of covering items, custom wire bender, oh and a dozen kits.... I got...

Thanks for the input guys. Your thoughts are on par with what I was thinking. Pretty much going to have to give them away on dollars. I’ve already been looking on RCG to find anything of value and really the Ikons and the Aerocoups are the largest dollar items at $250 IF someone wanted to buy...

RC estate question... Anyone have any experience with these kits? Ikon N'West Models Stinson 108, Taylorcraft Jack Stafford Aircoupe Wing MFGR A-26/P-38/P-39 I told the family I'd look over the 50 kits and 40 plans to tell them if there is anything worth selling themselves and for the local rc...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

guessing you don't live in china??? With Memphis being the FedEx hub, that's normal. Anchorage, I see that because its the Alaska hub, and last pit stop before international.... or Alaska destinations like myself.... FedEx slogan "The World On Time" sounds like it's going around the world on...

    X cub making progress

I've done both, and prefer the canopy glue because it cleans up better and has a harder hold than clear silicone. Because silicone has a rubberish feel when it's cured, when wiping down your plane with a towel will stick to it and rub it off potentially. You could fill larger gaps with silicone...

Just for a scale reference. The mountain to the right is a 4,000ft peak. The Mendenhall Glacier is to the left of that. I am very close to sea level. I do take the view for granted from time to time...

VIDEO! After the years this assembly thread has been posted, My maiden video was terrible... my wife tried but I couldn't edit enough to post (bless her heart). I finally made a video of this plane flying around doing some 3D maneuvers. It's shot with a GoPro Hat clip cam, so it looks farther...
