The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I haven't been following along with this thread too faithfully. Guess I should start doing so huh? But with my work schedule, I would hardly be posting here. LOL... nothing tonight. But come this weekend? Oh yeah...gonna git some stuff on that Yak done fo sho.

    SOLD! NIB's - Carden Extra 300 -$300

Hey @David Cokley, I thought we had an understanding. "NO" "NO" "NO" new planes until that Lazer is finished. At this rate, I can assemble/restore two Yaks and still you won't have that Lazer done. GIT WIT IT!!!

    Advice/Opinion on an engine

A 100cc engine on something like this would probably be marginal in performance. If it were me, 3W all the way. A 110 would be sweet. Plenty of ponies... and at 6.72 pounds, it'd be pretty tough to beat the 12.8 horse and wide variety of props it would spin...

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

That is just simply bad ass!!!

    Scale 50% Dalotel 165

Oh too cool. So no control surface trimming? Trimmed with boost tabs as well as independent fine tuning? Or does it even work that way? Never seen the boost tabs on an rc. It's just...neat!

    3D Restoring The Yak

Well I couldn't use the actual word of "light" as this ole girl will be anything but light. But it sure is white...right now. LOL. I did get the fuse completely covered today. But now of course, back up in Northern Idaho for the next five days for work. Looking forward to getting home on Friday...

    3D Restoring The Yak

Guess I misunderstood you. I knew the photo was not a Yak but thought you were doing one. I missed the fact you were referring to your Slick. Just goes to show you, one should never try to comment on something at 2 in the morning after working late on a monster plane. I've experienced...

    3D Restoring The Yak

What is that Yak you are doing your rebuild on? What size? This is the first Yak I have had and really looking forward to it. Randy @Spats loves his and actually he is the one that really made the biggest impression on me to go forward with the purchase and restore of this one. I really love the...

    3D Restoring The Yak

Totally beat. Got about 2/3 of the fuse covered with the first layer of white. Wow, talk about being "blinded by the white"! Will try to get more done tomorrow. Oh wait...it is tomorrow. Doah...nigh-t-all.

    3D Restoring The Yak

Ok so the elevator and rudder harnesses are now strung and in place. This is about as far as I will go with the wiring until the fuse is completely covered. Going to take a short break and get after that covering.:way_to_go:

    3D Restoring The Yak

I still have my Hitec. Once I got all the ignition modules on my 3dub's figured out, I realized it is just as solid as any other radio. I've not decided which system I will use in the Yak. The Graupner is freaking amazing. But it has a "very" light feel on the sticks. I'm still trying to...

    3D Restoring The Yak

I've been making a little progress today. In between movies and such. I began today with building and installing the female multiplex plug plates in the fuse. I wanted to do this airframe up cleaner than my more recent assembly/builds. After getting the plugs test mounted, I installed...

    3D Restoring The Yak

Thanks Rick. I do hope you'll be able to get yours done in plenty of time for some Spring time huckin'! I won't be splitting the ailerons on this one. Though I did consider it, doing so would probably not prove to give much of an advantage. With the current configuration of the ailerons, they...

    3D Restoring The Yak

    Bummer, what your problem is?

    3D Restoring The Yak

Going to get an early start today. I will be focusing on placement and looming of the wiring harnesses. The nicest thing about a large airframe, (besides its flight characteristics) is there is ample space to get my hands in and so many options for ideas. Without further adue, on with the show.

    3D Restoring The Yak

Enough for today. Kind of sort of, planning on this arrangement. Not for certain how everything will sit. But this is a start.

    3D Restoring The Yak

Actually, yes! Got home late last night and slept most the morning. A Christmas party here, a grandson program there and the afternoon gave way to pure relaxation with the beast. I built and installed servo bay rails in the aft of the fuse for the rudder servos. Got the last of the inside of...
