Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Which power setup are you running? I'm running the old stock setup. make sure your ESC doesn't have a soft brake and is free wheeling. There's not a lot of mass to keep the prop spinning on these little guys so keeping the prop spinning is just part of the mental game.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

With no provision. All of us suffered when congress pushed the FAA here to provide a solution quickly. That’s no easy feat for the government. The FAA here is essentially being pushed. AMA is the same, what’s different is the FAA worked with AMA to create nomenclature for a CBO (Community Based...

Mini crack yak right? That’s the one I have. You really gotta play with the cg and rates to get comfortable with it. Some times the prop can make all the difference. It’s been a while since I flew mine.

No problem. The angel wing design planes are fun builds. My Pugv2 was a very fun build and flies pretty darn good for a baby dlg I doubt it’s come down to this permanently. I think a lot of this has come down to integrating the airspace quickly for commercial UAV’s and the recreational fliers...

Alert! CALL TO ACTION: FAA threatening new regulations!!!

They have their own agenda as well with smaller planes/drones. Not so much with giant scale. They are FIGHTING though and there’s so much to be said for that!

Alert! CALL TO ACTION: FAA threatening new regulations!!!

Just ran across this. Flite Test is trying to raise the 250g limit to 1kg (2.2lb) for the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2023. https://fpvfc.org/congressional-outreach

Oh I hear you. Many of us are just using common sense when it comes to flying and the rules lately even in the USA. It's concerning they have started to make violation fees though. With it being such a hot topic for a while I would recommend in the mean time to get into some sub 250g stuff and...

Transport Canada cancels MAAC exemption for model flying

We have been talking about this here as well: https://www.giantscalenews.com/threads/call-to-action-faa-threatening-new-regulations.11053/ But TC, with the assist from NAV Canada whom was notified by MAAC that they had fields operating in restricted airspace. MAAC self disclosed this...

Alert! CALL TO ACTION: FAA threatening new regulations!!!

I would imagine there is going to be a movement in Canada to step away from MAAC to another organization or become permitted privately. I've been reading a lot of posts on social media about this issue. My take home is the last 15years of leadership has reconstructed itself to a dictatorship...

Alert! CALL TO ACTION: FAA threatening new regulations!!!

Hate to say this is where the AMA is going as well. They do care about the hobby by working with the FAA to create a cute little name for themselves as a CBO in the regulations to be able to stay afloat. Obviously without this they wouldn't have been able to help create the opportunity as a...

Alert! CALL TO ACTION: FAA threatening new regulations!!!

From social media, a post not from me but very informative. “Please be vigilant when it comes to keeping the hobby going, today this dropped on all MAAC members north of the boarder. It sucks to say the least, my field in Kelowna may never be used again and there is currently nothing we can...

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

I like the nylon bolts too. Curious to see how the pull-pull system geometry does. Hopefully the wires remain taught. Otherwise, you may consider a little cable retainer so it doesn't de-rail. Your setup is going to look great! Fingers crossed mr. ackermann doesn't have to provide engineering here.

    89" SkyWing Laser 260 V2 Assembly Thread

It's all JMB stuff. The TRA-70L is about $90USD @360g (TRA-70)... so not too bad considering a MTW TDH110 is $175 @ 340g Booma RC is now selling some JMB products which is cool, I saw they have the TRA-70 (not the -L like mine though) https://boomarc.com/en/canister-muffler-tra-70

Alert! CALL TO ACTION: FAA threatening new regulations!!!

Only if it's reported by a manned aircraft operating at the same altitude or lower. Or picked up by radar... but then you are way to close to controlled airspace. I flew a 1.5m F5K glider up to 300ft to an active thermal (birds were in it) turned the motor off, and continued to climb to just...

    89" SkyWing Laser 260 V2 Assembly Thread

Small update on this pretty plane. Decided my canister was too small based on my inconsistent midrange. After inquiring about it, JMB now recommends the TRA-70L instead of the TRC-60L for the GP-76. So I took the plunge and got a couple (one for another project). Took some modifying off the...
