    Yippee! What the postman brought

Nothing wrong with a little extra weight. Foamies have their place but momentum and a firm plane have theirs as well.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

That UltraSport can be lightened as you go through the build, I’ve done it. But the fat airfoil can easily handle the heavier build.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

I patch with different colors on purpose sometimes. A flying plane is a flying plane.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

One of my employees couldn’t remove a catch basin cast iron grate so I made him a lifting tool this weekend. I’ll grind my poor welds later.

I do not. Unfortunately……. I have a Hanger 9 P-7 with an OS 65ax that I last flew 3-4 years ago. The OS is probably 75-80% of a Jett……. I have a few others that haven’t flown in years.

Pound for pound the Jett 60 LX(?) is the most incredible engine I’ve ever seen. Instantaneous throttle response and crazy power. The YS 60 is pretty strong……

That was just a branch. The overall tree is much bigger. I am cutting it up and letting my son drag it off the driveway but eventually the branch will be too big for my saw or mini excavator.

More of ‘What did I do OUT of my workshop today’. Big storm blew an oak tree branch on my shop property onto a neighbors driveway. Fortunately they are out of town; allowing me time to at least clear their driveway. Another couple of hours tomorrow and driveway should be clear.

Yes. Set screws not visible in the photos. Nothing fancy but good lathe and mill practice.

The backplate is for a small chuck so I could drill holes in a hose bib handle that I made for a customer. Hours and hours of wonderful shop time running 3 phase lathe and mill, money spent on a chuck, aluminum plate, set screws, beer, etc, all to make a 29 cent handle.
