    The other end of the taper is a blank, millable. I’m going to mill it to a collet size and use the ensemble to center the rotary table.

    They look much better with tricycle gear. Some choose the taildragger option for simplicity but I think tricycle looks much better.

    I found out my rotary table has a MT3 tapered opening not a straight through hole. I ordered a blank millable MT3 shaft and it fits perfectly. I will mill the blank to 3/4” or so and use this in a collet as a centering device.

    I built a MK Blue Angel from scratch and ended up under 8 lbs with retracts. My 6 year build thread is on RCU under ‘Another Blue Angel build’ thread.

    Forgot to hold up my beer while at 2 Metallica concerts……. Concerts were in Tampa so I mostly drank Jai Lai ipas….

    Complexity yes, weight, not so much. Classic pattern planes of the 80’s were often 8-9 lbs and hauled the mail with a piped 60/61. I can build the same and come out under 8 lbs (with retracts).

    I prefer tricycle gear on classic pattern planes. But only if they retract.

    My Power Box experience was brief. I won a club raffle prize of 1-2 hours of instruction with Extreme Flight pilot Antonio de Souza and he uses PowerBox transmitters. That transmitter is amazing but I couldn’t pass up a great Futaba 18SZ deal. No further experience with PowerBox…..

    I usually call my 86 yo uncle after I leave the field and head home. He bought me my first kit in 82 and we’ve talked rc planes ever since. It warms my heart to continue to have the ability to talk anything that flies with him.
