Discussion Federal Appeals Court: FAA Registration Rule violates Section 336

The FAA still has the option to appeal the ruling, but some are saying that they probably will not. If this holds firm then the registration for model aircraft may go away.

Discussion Federal Appeals Court: FAA Registration Rule violates Section 336

This is some interesting news.... http://www.wolfenstock.com/TaylorvFAA/TaylorFAAOpinion.pdf "In short, the 2012 FAA Modernization and Reform Act provides that the FAA “may not promulgate any rule or regulation regarding a model aircraft,” yet the FAA’s 2015 Registration Rule is a “rule or...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Spent a little more time on the Edge yesterday. Got the ignition mounted, at first I had it ontop of the motor box but I didn't realize it's too tall for the cowl, so I had to relocate it inside of the motor box. Hopefully it's far enough from the servo to prevent EMF. Wires all routed...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

No, there were other members flying 3D that morning, there seems to be a grudge against me and 2 other past members.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Glad I finally got 2 solid flights in on the Extra without something keeping me from flying it :oblong: Saturday I had a small window to try and get a flight on this thing to see if all my problems were solved so I strolled by my old club that is closer to where I live and was promptly...

Hooked my throttle servo up on the Edge last night. Just need to slap the mufflers on and hook the ignition up and then we can go for a test fire :)

The baffle saga continues. Needed something to direct air towards the engine since there was a nice 2" gap between the cowl and cylinder head, whipped up a quick baffle on each side to force the air back to the cylinder. Still thinking about trying to do something for the top of the...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Ran into a SNAFU with the ZDZ180 the past couple of weekends, engine would shut down in flight when I pulled the throttle stick back. Chased a number of possible scenarios last weekend before giving up, found out it was a loose throttle arm on the carb causing all of my problems :oblong: I put...

Discussion Best Aircraft for the 100cc Engines

    Pilot RC Edge 540. On a 120 it's a rocketship, with a 100 it's plenty 3D-able.

No pics for tonight but I finally figured out a problem that had been plaguing my ZDZ180. A loose throttle arm and a hair line crack against the carb in the fuel tubing, combined they were making the engine shut down on me when I returned to idle. Fixed both of those issues tonight, she should...

You've only removed the smooth surface of the Elapor, cosmetically it's ugly but as far as structurality it does nothing. You want to use a very very low-tac masking tape for masking stuff.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Well this was a weekend of all work and almost no play at all, even at the field!! I wanted to fly the Aerobeez 40% Extra again but she just refused to run (I believe I have an air leak in my fuel tubing, not a problem with the engine itself). After swapping ignitions and checking other stuff I...

The I'm NOT going out flying thread.

Well I was gearing up to go flying tomorrow but I had to get a new tire throw on my motorcycle and the dealer only has a 10am appointment open.... o_O I would go fly earlier but the fog is so thick at that time that I wouldn't be able to see anything and later in the day I've got other stuff...

I've been thinking about trying one of these out... http://www.xtremepowersystems.net/proddetail.php?prod=XPS-X24D Seems like it's got everything built into it, just plug your receiver(s) into it and go!

Got the 120 mocked in place last night in the Edge :epic: Oh YEAH baby!!!!!! :yesss: Looks like a relief hole will need to be cut for the plug cap on the port side of the cowl.... :oblong: She looks so anxiously flight ready :D:D Hopefully I'll get a chance to do more work...
