    Discussion Airframe Vibration Prevention/Deadening

I know there is a lot of folks out there that have dealt with ways to keep a single cylinder gasser from eating an airframe. Other than the obvious (prop/spinner balancing), what methods have you used for the longevity of your airframe? I'll post a couple scenarios; 1.) Canopy hatch pins and...

    DLE 35RA Muffler bolts

Copper RTV on the muff and bolt threads yah? Seems like that has been a easy, working, readily available alternative to nordlocks, and locktite. I think we all agreed that cleaning the bolt threads and casting threads prior to RTV, locktite, or nordlocks have been the way to go.

    DLE 35RA Muffler bolts

Curious to see how everybody's various muffler securing methods have been working out for the DLE35RA and the stock muff. Mine hasn't come loose after about 3-4 gallons more by ditching the gasket and using Red RTV, clean bolts, and with Nordlock washers as previously mentioned.

    Best 3d starter plane

Sounds like your thinking electric in the 40" range? People really like the Extreme Flight 48" Extra 300EXP or a 44" 3DHS Slick540/580 would be a good choice. It really depends on how forgiving of a bird you need. Something like a Multiplex Stuntmaster made of foam would be more forgiving...

I use an "idle up" on my 71 slick w/DLE35RA, 3DNater is spot on. I had the same issue, It didn't like pop-tops... Idle is around 1600-1800 and I my idle up is about 2400-2600. once again, spot on 3dNater It isn't enough rpm to effect the way you fly. Just flip the switch once lined up on the...

    Redwingrc 30cc extra prop size

You want a prop that has a smooth transition that doesn't load up the engine. I personally think that a 20 wont spool up faster than a 19, or have the rpms that a 19 has. . . however, the 20 should produce a little more thrust at lower rpms. bla bla bla Sounds like you want a carbon prop...

    Redwingrc 30cc extra prop size

I'm running a Vess 20A on my DLE35RA I don't remember the tach numbers, transition is ok. Happy with the result over the 20B which was just too much prop. I haven't run a carbon prop, the rock strip on my field could be devastating to a carbon prop so I'm weary of trying one. It seems that the...

I thought the buttons on the radio were pretty cool too. The gamer style buttons make so much more sense than searching for switches. I do wonder why transmitter manufactures have not caught on to this idea?

    35cc build help

I would baffle the inside of the cowling as well to keep the airflow around the cylinder head fins since the inlet already appears to be kind of small. I hate to cut a larger hole into the inlet and outlet. It's too bad most Mfgrs don't supply you with a modification to create the 3:1 cooling...

#3 seems to be a good option. or you can make/add louvers by buying them or creating your own out of fiberglass. http://www.redwingrc.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_26&products_id=344

    3DHS 44" Slick 580 on 4s!!

I like it! I have an EFlight Slick 540, but the tail isn't airfoiled like this little beast, and it's a bit smaller. Been thinking about selling it and going with a flying machine like this. Great flying Tim!

AJ Laser 230z 73" Build Thread

Does it seem odd that the 73" V2 has a removable rudder? I don't think the rudder has as big of a foot print compared to making it a removable elevator/horiz stab on this model... but then that adds more weight... so it's a wash I guess.

good pics, thanks! I've always liked ultracote over monocote for the same reason, ultracote is easier to work with and sticks better. Where as I think monokote is lighter. just my 2 cents.

AJ Laser 230z 73" Build Thread

ok Good!! @BirdStrike would you mind trying to post a picture of the parts with the removable rudder? maybe line them up where they'd go on the stab? @Casualplay I don't know why they supply anything other than 4-40... it's pretty frustrating when you'd think that the mfgr should have a pretty...

Do you have V1 or V2? The old version (V1) uses epoxy as below: V2 has a removable rudder... I am unfamiliar with this setup. Check out post #27 on this thread. Tim didn't really cover it per say the rudder, but rudder and elevator are hinged the same way. Look at his post #3 on hinging through...
