The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Worked on the Aerobeez Extra for a bit before changing gears and trying to get a new engine into my old XTM Mammoth. Pretty excited to get this thing going again :)

    Aerobeez 45% Extra 300 assembly

Got the Tygon in and put my servo boxes together tonight, will be doing more work tomorrow. Didn't get to doing the rudder linkages just yet, need to get batteries soldered up first and I didn't feel like breaking out the iron.

Yeah I don't think heat will help it, they are usually made from a heat activated type of thermoplastic and will shrink with heat (which is why it is warped).

The inlet on the ZDZ180 is 1/4", not the 1/8" we're used to, so the tubing has to be expanded which this tubing does not do well at all, even when heated to the point of nearly melting- it was advised to me by @Terryscustom to not use it between the clunk/tank and carb. I'll be picking up some...

It's the plastic itself, I can push the whole canopy down and get it to bolt to the frame flush but I have a bad feeling that I'll start to wear things out in short order if I continue to do that.

Its just cheep stuff, not good quality like real genuine Tygon. Very difficult to get it to slide onto any of the fittings without it putting up a huge fight. I have also been told it's too thin walled for feeding the engine.

Got the tank in and all of the bolts in place for the cowl tonight. Did some plumbing also buy I don't like this tubing between the tank and the carb, gping to replace it with tygon both in the tank and between the tank and carb. Tomorrow night I want to get the rudder linkages setup, I...

9Tonight I worked with the cowl and got a new hole made for the port muffler and cleaned up the rest of the holes so they wouldn't crack, also had to cut clearance holes for the front of the mufflers. I worked with the darice foam and sealed up the excess holes from the DA200 mufflers, I think...

Have a question for you guys about a warped canopy, is there any way to un-warp one? The rear of the canopy on the prototype Aerobeez Extra 300 is listing off of the fuselage canopy deck about 1/2" and doesn't seat flush on the turtle deck anymore. Since this is the protoype there isn't a...

More hotness :yesss: Last night I spent a little bit of time and made a plywood plate to mount my ignition module to, and then mounted the ignition to it using velcro and zip ties. She's not going anywhere. I also mounted the TechAero IBEC inside with a zip tie and double sided foam tape...

Life has been busy as of late!!! Looks like I should have everything I'll need to finish this thing this week, just waiting for it all to come in the mail. Last night I bolted up the main gear (waiting on wheels and axles), tailgear, and slapped the cowl on to appreciate my hard work.

That's the very reason I went with a van. Don't have room to put a trailer plus I don't want to have to worry about one on road trips.

Thanks. Creepy I can deal with, people trying to look at my airplanes I can't  As per Joe Mitchell's recommendation (I fly at sea level). I'll play with a 32x11W as well.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Fun weekend, 3 days of flying! Saturday I got voluntold to fly at a local picnic for Hitec, brought out my old reliable Aerobeez 70" Slick Pro and knocked the socks off of everyone there (they don't see much of anyone doing 3D at that club). Sunday and Monday I had the 107" Yak out to learn...
