The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Not bad at all. If you look at the going out flying thread there are pictures of the rest of it.

much needed laugh there. Thanks. no go over to the workshop thread and see the repairs I have done to the landing gear.

I’m going out flying thread 2019

Before work maiden didn't go quite as planned. Plane flys great and here are my thoughts. Decent power on 3S so can't wait to see it on 4S. Flew slightly nose heavy as I expected for first flight with battery placement. Stalls are nice and gentle. KE had no coupling for me at all. I do think it...

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

I will answer all that I can. I will say there are a couple free softwares out there as well. I have not used any of them but have heard good things about a few of them. I only have AutoCAD as I’m in school and took a class on it which got me the student version for free. Now that I’m soon to...

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

CAD was not hard to learn for me. Still haven't gotten into the 3D side of things but suppose I will be before long since I should be moving into our engineering department at work by the end of the year.

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

A good reference I can give is this. There have been a handful of planes I originally designed and drew on paper by hand before I had CAD. I have converted most to CAD at this point and it takes me about 30 hours per plane to do and that's just slowly taking measurements and transferring it to...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

New toy today. It’s the eflite pitts. It’s a very well put together other than the pins that hold wing struts on are a pain to install. Really like that the battery is mounted to a removable tray for easy install. Maybe a maiden tomorrow but there is supposed to be rain tomorrow so it may wait.

    Big blue wire nut

LMAO. too funny opening GSN up and seeing this. May I suggest the split bolt for next time when the big blue wire nut just isn’t big enough.

    Bill Hempel Yak 55

I agree with everyone else. Grind the firewall edge back to clear it all. Glue in some hardwood tristock on the inside of it in that spot. And just let it roll with the prop clearance. Will look fine.

Krill 39% Ultimate 300KS Assembly And Paint

That's probably mostly companies knowing its an insurance job and charging way more. Was the same thing on my truck when I was rear ended and pushed into another vehicle. Just needed two bumpers. Looked it all up and could order the stuff myself all brand new for around $400. Insurance wanted to...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

If you look at a full scale yak or sukhoi most have the prop spaced out in front of the cowl by a good bit so I don’t think it will look odd at all.

I’m going out flying thread 2019

These are from a funfly from last year and was just sent them yesterday. About 20 photos total but only posting a couple. Pretty neat through the process of launching and apparently I make some weird faces doing so.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Yes sir. Here’s the original one I did way back in 2014 and hand drew the plans. The new one is getting scaled up a bit.

    IMAC Scratch build Laser 200

It’s a steep learning curve for sure but FrSky has come up with some amazing stuff at affordable cost. love my old taranis x9d+ If it wasn’t for flying DLG’s I would upgrade to the X10S.

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

These are all of thesmaller glitter jr but same idea as it’s the same plane just smaller. Original prototype fuse you can see the smaller openings towards the rear You can see here how they pass through the fuse. I like to laminate the stringers here. Mostly balsa but the side the...

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

Everything up front looks great. Servos in the tail should be moved forward some though. Also we normally just mount them going through the fuse. I will find a picture and post it.
