Not sure what way I will go, tending towards not cutting the rings open. Thank you again for pointing this out, I've bought gauges from Ifly in the past. never gave them a thought. I started the top of the left wing this morning and decided to make the tool below to make the screw turning...

That's great, just ordered 100, these have more detail than the BUSA plywood rings. Wasn't sure how many I needed but are a lot of them on this plane. 100 should cover it with a few to spare. Thank you!

I sent Balsa USA an email several weeks ago, never heard back. I'm looking for the grommet rings provided with the 1/3 scale Super Cub kit, can't find them on their web site, maybe they do not offer them for sale. Might be a COVID 19 thing, I will call them tomorrow as well. Any other sources...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Finished installing the screws on the bottom on the wing and installed the finish tapes. It does take a little time figuring out what order to install the tapes, the lift strut fittings add to the confusion, I think I got it right. 185 screws were installed, I'm using a slotted pan head type...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Looking inside I'm surprised more of the fuselage formers didn't break when the firewall cracked? I see a lot of air when I look at the first photo above inside the fuselage.

The service manual states a new and simplified method of attaching the covering to the ribs is used on the Champion. 3/4" tape is laid over the fabric and ribs and fastened in place with #4 screws and washers over which 2" tape is laid. I used 1/2" tape, #0 pan head screws and washers, and laid...

Started putting the fabric down. Using Steward Systems Ecobond to attach the Stits lite fabric. Water based, no odor which is nice. Brush on two coats of Ecobond allowing it dry, then using an iron at 225F, iron the fabric in place. Very much the same as Stits. For the strut fittings I...

And a nicely done EDF 737. Electric foam models are taking over the flying fields, this giant scale stuff is a dying breed. I'm not ready to go electric yet, kinda funny, I spent 43 years making electricity!

    Scale Champion Model Aircraft Company??

I knew I seen this plane kit before. Check the Fiberglass Specialties web site. The cowl is listed under Davey Systems/Champion in their cowls and accessories section. I would tend to believe the windshield was cut from flat plastic.
