Sport 30% Edge 540 Pete Marshall Plans with Laser Cut Short Kit

Bluepilot2003

70cc twin V2
The wingspan is 88".

The cowl dimensions should be:
9 1/2" tall
10 7/8" firewall to front
9 3/4" wide

I haven't looked for a cowl yet to know where to get it from. If anyone wants to measure their 50cc Edge cowls from their ARFs for me and tell me what their dimensions are, I would appreciate it greatly!

Travis,

It seems that when Pete first released the plans there may have been some revisions made after the initial release. I also have made a few housekeeping updates as people have found discrepancies but nothing major on my end. If you would like me to send you a set of PDFs so you can compare I can do that.

Hi Rob,
If you could, please email me the change PDF you have for the Edge. I appreciate it. My email is tsmdmm@comcast.net
Thanks, Travis

Now I have the pieces all cut and glued for the fuselage side. We will see how it turned out tomorrow. My little clamps weren't quite big enough so the big ones came out! The rest of the places that needed to be clamped, I used pins stuck into both pieces being glued while I held pressure on them. It looks like it worked. We will see.

Fiberglass Specialties does not have an Edge cowl that would work, I guess. Will continue looking elsewhere, or will learn how to do it myself!

Looking at your numbers earlier the Pilot cowl is real close. Bet you could get Tony to send you one custom painted or just primed so you can paint it.

Bluepilot2003,
I did a lot of searching for an off the shelf cowl to fit this plane some time ago. I have had the plans and short kit from Rob for quite some time now, but have not had the time to start building it yet unfortunately. I looked into all the ARF manufacturers to include EF, Aero Works and Pilot. In addition I called Fiberglass Specialties and Fibertech N More about their cowls or lack of. I got measurements from all these companies and none of theme were really even close to the measurments of this kits F1 former and cowl ring. I did however find a cowl that I believe is pretty close and would fit with possibly some minor modification. It is from http://www.precisioncutkits.com/proline.htm. Larry Katona sells his ProLine kits along with all the glass, plastic and gear components. You can purchase any of the parts separately. If you scroll down on that page to the accessories chart it is kit #208 Edge 540. He has all the parts listed for the kit. Cowl, wheelpants, canopy, gear, etc. The measurements that Larry gave me over the phone was a width of 10 1/4", Height of 9" and a length of 12". Obviously the length can be cut down to whatever is needed. Unfortunately since I never started the kit, I did not order the cowl, but this is most likely the cowl I would have gone with at the time. Anyway hopefully this information will be helpful to you. Good luck with your search. I hope you will be able to find a cowl that will work well.
