35CC 3D Plane

Comparing this setup to 4325-425, you should be able to spin a 19x8 faster than that can spin the Xoar 18x10 PJN. I thought that was stupid power. If that aft battery tray is all that is needed to make this work, then this should be a very fun airplane and project. Other thing to consider is to make a tray to mount the gas tank aft of the spar. This will help with CG and make the plane more nose heavy when it is time to land. That is something you can do at the end once, you have a good idea on the CG.

Now see, that is why I get on forums like this. I never would have though of that. I know for a fact that the tan diaphram for the the carb on those engines is capable of drawing WAY more fuel than you need. Drawing it a few more inches in a hover should NOT be a big deal. On a gas plane, I try to place the tank as close to the spar and possible, but never behind. You're right. That should improve landing if the plane is becoming progressively nose heavy as it flies.

I think I have settled on Power Hd 1212 th servos. Trying to keep with the light weight theme, I'm looking for a light weight high voltage servo... fast enough to run a throttle and of course, durable. Another 1212?

I'm not familiar with high voltage servos.

If I were running low voltage, I think I would put an HS225MG on it. I happen to have one out in my garage.

DLE 35-RA requires 10mm firewall?!?

I'm making good progress on my Velox build. The manual says the engine requires a 10mm thick firewall. The Velox has a 5mm thick firewall. I could epoxy in another 3/16" thickness, but then the box around the firewall is super thin too.

Is this really necessary?

I cant comment on that... would love to hear some input. My gut says beef it up but maybe someone out there has some useful experience.

To me, I don't know for sure either way... But id rather reinforce now than wish I did later when I pick up the motor from the other side of the field...

The DLE 30 recommends the same thing. So if I thicken the firewall, should I also thicken the sides of the box?

I'm thinking maybe the side, but not the top and bottom.
