48" Edge 540 Building, Flying, and Questions

It seemingly floats on a pillow of angel's buttcheeks. :D this plane is far and beyond the best I've flown in harrier. It has very little tendency to tip-stall, and that is a big confidence builder in honing the "low and slow" skills.

If anyone has a spare fuse laying around, I need one. Blue or orange, new or repaired, doesn't matter. Thanks!

I've got spare parts if anyone wants them... wings, elevator, rudder, and h-stab. They're not perfect, but structurally sound.

48" Edge "TIP"

Hey guys, new to this site. Recommended by a friend to post this mod. The 3DHS fanatics on another site liked it so I Figured I'd share. Flew it for two quick flights before dark today and WOW! :grrreat: Everything this airframe does well all ready gets even better! It flew like a heavier plane but with the same floaty response we all love. Enjoy! I literally "winged it" pun intended. No CAD CAM, just a notebook, ruler and pencil. It's all 3/16" balsa with a CF spar vertically through the middle. Joints all thin CA. Hardware is 4-40 blind nuts behind the spacer tip (covered and epoxied to tip) and 4-40 x 1/2 hex bolts w/ washers to attach. Build time- a few hours (plus paint drying time). Cost- $10-15.

ps. One side note- at the same time I switched the ailerons to separate channels and it is much better than a Y harness. Just sayin!

Wing Bags for 48" Edge- cost to build with spare material for more- about $20

Hey guys,
I have to give credit for this to Ray from our club. I've seen some pretty nice vinyl on some 48" Edge wings. If you're like me I couldn't see dropping $40+ on bags so Ray showed me his and I made some of my own. Cost (with extra material to make several more pair)- about $20.
Materials-
-1 roll water heater insulation (you'll know it when you see photos) available at Lowes or HD. A roll will make several pairs of bags.
-Duct tape
-Medium zip ties
-Velcro ties (battery ties)

Just put the wing on top of the insulation and cut with spare room around perimeter and a lip on one side for a closure then duct tape all seams. cut and tape a slit for the velcro tie in the middle and tape it for reinforcement. On one bag (make it wider to accommodate the wing tube). Lay out your wing tube next to the wing and use the zip ties 6" or so apart to "stitch" the insulation. Tape over the "stitches" to clean it up. If you use SFGs, make a pocket inside for them. See photos, pretty self explanatory. They work great and are cheap to build. I even made prop guards since those APC props are so sharp, helps protect other planes in transport.

Wamsy,
What's the setup on the 48" Edge in these videos from back in August? 3 or 4s? Prop?
Thanks. Great videos and tutorials.

Sorry, just now saw this.

I am running the classic Omega 130 on 3s with a 14 by 7 prop.

Best setup IMO.
That's what I'm running too. I was going to give a 4S w 12x6 a try. Have you? I do like the 3s setup but don't have anything to compare it to.
Thanks.
