Im not quite finished. Need to put something on the turtledeck. Im opened to suggestions. Right now im leaning towards something with the words "Hillbilly Hucker" Im sure somebody has said that before, but I just coined it so if you use it your be infringe'n upon copyright laws. :p

The vinyl looks much better in person, guess Renea needs a camera for Christmas :D

Hopefully ill get to fly her tomorrow. Also hope to get to fly/meet Joe and his family and Jase Dussia *fingers crossed

Looks great!

is that only on high rates WOT?

Hey Jacob, do you seal all of your hinges? I did on the MXS but ended up take'n them off the ailerons.

I have about a dozen flights on my laser now and absolutely love it.

It is the only plane I have flown that has the authority to do a 180 degree snap turn...

FYI, the servos I'm using twitch a little on the ground, but once they have air moving over them they are fine.

MY only complaint so far is that I want more torque on the ailerons. 150oz isnt enough, I'm still getting blow-back.

"More torque" your an animal. Lol. That's the kind of twitching I've experienced, a bit on the ground but once loaded its fine.

Yes, hinges are sealed( I like sealed hinges, and with the speed at which I fly, I need them sealed)
It is any time I do rolls (regardless of the deflection) over 3/4 throttle. Mind you, I'm not using the SFG's so my laser is much faster than normal.

I'm going to try smaller servo arms.

speaking of arms. Im using 7245's with the long dubros on the elevator. The max I can get on deflection is around 75 degrees. I setup the hinge gap to get 90. By looking at the elevator arm when deflected I know I can get more throw out of the servo itself. Looks like I need a longer arm?

Jacob, having flown with you in bowling green, and hearing about your fears of "blowback" on 500oz/in servos, and now again with 150oz/in servos on the Laser.... I think you might be incorrect with your analysis of your issue or what is happening in flight.

Sorry, Matt (Enterprise) and I flew the laser today with some Hitec 7245mg servos, and just finished a discussion on your issue. We think you are perceiving some aerodynamic forces on your wing as blowback. When you actuate full aileron deflection, you will initially get a high roll rate. As the airplane slows down from the huge amount of drag you have on the wings from full deflection aileron, you are likely perceiving that as blowback, when in actuality it is parasitic drag on the wing with the aileron up, and induced drag on the wing with the aileron down. This drag is reducing your roll rate, not the torque in your servos.

Very nice analysis gentlemen. Was this discussion augmented with a beverage or two after what I'm sure was exhaustive research putting the Laser through endless high energy, ballistic maneuvering? Seriously, I think you two are right on.

Mine is not much more with my 7245's and the Dubro 670 arms on the outer hole.

Gary,

I am going to take a video so I can watch the ailerons closely.

I think you and Matt may be onto something, I hope.
