That's a bummer. I'd love to see the green one in action, especially with your nice camera. I got one more of it flying out on the wrong side of the runway :)

Nice Pic! I will see what I can do. My regular flying buddy has not flown an airplane or heli in about 3 weeks! Every time I tell him I am going out he just says he is busy. I have a photo buddy who I am trying to get to shoot my 71" Slick in the air but his days off are different then mine so it is hard to coordinate with him. When I can get him out I will have him shoot the 71 and the MXS. BTW I use 3 different cameras. The camera provided to me by work is a Nikon D700. My personal camera's that I use are the Canon 5D and the Canon 1D Mark II. They are a little old but still take a great photograph. Save up a little bit and look at the Nikon D5100. I helped my boss recently pick out a camera and she went with the D5100 and she loves it. It shoots video, stills, has an articulating screen, and a really great sensor all for around $600 bucks. Not bad for an SLR if you ask me. My Canon 5D when I bought it was $3,300 back in 2005 when I first got it and the D5100's image quality is fairly close to it for a fraction of the cost.

Ok sorry to get off topic it there. Planes, Planes, Planes, and the MXS!! Woo!

Thanks for the info on the camera AZ. I'm looking into buying a new camera soon. I used a nikon d5000 for my last MXS ans Slick videos and didn't like the quality. I heard the d5100 is much better for video. My dad has one so ill see if he'll let me borrow it

You're not on RCG... You're among friends... It's okay :)

Thanks Gary. I just did not want to upset anyone. I try to stay on topic but it is tough when talking about my second passion, photography.

Excellent idea! It is always best to try a camera out before you buy it. I have rejected camera's just based on how they felt in my hands. When I carry one with me 40+ hours a week it has to feel comfortable in my hands, durable, and have great quality. I did not get a chance to check out the video quality on a computer but I did get to check it out on the back of the camera and I was impressed. If you like Canon I would look at the T3i or the T4i if you can afford it. I am personally looking at a Canon Powershot G15 to use when I go on vacation or for just always having with me. It is a PITA carrying around a big DSLR when you are just trying to have some fun and not focus on shooting. I am not sure about the video quality with it but it does do 1080p. Check out Digital Photo Review at http://www.dpreview.com/ they are probably the best in the biz when it comes to reviewing camera's. Good luck on finding one that fits your needs.

I finally got my maiden in on Sunday. I only got one flight but I was impressed. I had car troubles when I tried to charge my battery up again for it's second flight. That's what I get for recently buying a friends car and trusting him. I got a new battery now so this coming weekend if the weather holds I will for sure get in as many flights as I possibly can. Here are some photos of my MXS shot by the Club Photog. Not the best shots in my book but any shots of me flying my planes is great because I never get them. Usually I am the photog shooting everyone else's planes. Enjoy.

Nice! Looks great AZ. Sucks about tue car trouble...this plane would definitely leave me wanting more than one flight.

How do you like the visability on the green in the air?

I can tell you that the green isn't nearly that bright. In reality it's a lot darker and harder to see in the air. On a cloudy day the top and bottom are very very similar... both black.

Matt, plane and photos look great!

Thanks Gary.

It is not bad in my book but again I have only had one flight on it and it was a partially cloudy day. Yes the green is dark but it is not super dark. Those photos were clearly when the sun was out. I am happy with the color choice and so far no issues but again that was only one flight. I hope to get more this weekend if it kills me. HAHA!!

We had a rare day of nice-ish whether today, and having recently acquired 5 new packs, I got about 20 flights on the MXS. I love this plane!

I removed the tips and flew it with just SFG's and I think that's my favorite configuration for this plane. It rolls quicker and is a little more stable in yaw and pitch. The roll rate is downright insane...although it looses some of the cool looks for sure.

The packs I flew were the 40C Sky LiPo (I have three of them), 45C Pulse Ultra, and 30C Gforce, all 6S 3300's. Keep in mind that all of these packs besides one of the Pulse batteries were bought used, so take my results with that in mind. Also, I never bothered putting a watt meter on any of these, this is just based on how they felt in the air.

The worst pack was the Gforce. It's only a 30C pack, but it's the same price as the Sky LiPo's, and it's the heaviest, at 575 grams.

The clear winner was the Sky LiPo packs. I expected the Pulse batteries to be the best as they are marketed as premium batteries and are 45C versus the Sky LiPo's 40C. The Sky's are the lightest as well at 533 grams (the website has them at 633 but that's a typo. I weighed them).

The Pulse batteries performed well but the Sky's are better. They weigh the same as the Sky's, but they cost about twice as much.

Based on the fact that I have two of the Pulse batteries, the one that I have had since brand new performs the same as the other one, and I have three of the Sky's, I think I have a decent sample size. IMO getting the 40C Sky's is a no-brainer if they ever come back in stock!
