70cc FLEX Ultimate assembly thread.

Ok enough talking did a preliminary assembly this morning for the first time, must say I do like it. Biplanes just have some nostalgia about them. It all just pushed together no screws or bolts. Biplanes are nice and compact.

You guys are getting technical, I like it. Why no less than 2x 3500? I’d rather use lighter packs and switch them out more frequently (couple flights). Do they just maintain a higher voltage longer?

The fit on those wings… sheesh. My 120” Turbobushmaster needed some sanding with the wing tube fit - so not perfect either.
The mamba has a pretty good rep, Its always been a plane id like to have, but can’t have them all! Disappointed I never saw one fly at Joe Nall! Lots of the Flex edge 540s - the new schemes on those are killer.

The only reason I am looking at the 120 Mamba is I have 120 TaylorCraft that I have just added a new tail section to it and if it does not workout it is going to be stripped and everything in the TaylorCraft is a perfect fit for the 120 Mamba.

Alrighty, here is a 3D model (.stl) for the lower air dam. It's quite thin and light. Couple cosmetic issues during my 3D rendering but overall pretty minor.

Just received my Ibec from AJ aircraft, what a good company to deal with.
It looks good and a large voltage range and it also has a nice plastic case and mounting hole. Nice to see somebody takes time to develop a new IBec for us.

My pleasure! I haven't printed it yet, I could do a test piece sometime to make sure it will work.

AJ Aircraft is a nice family owned company. I spoke with Tim Jeskey (Andrews father) at Joe Nall and told him thanks in person for taking the time to double box and ship my 73" laser to Alaska back in 2015 - HE REMEMBERED me to a T!!! Had a lovely conversation with him! I needed a spotter a Joe Nall and Andrew was kind enough to step up. His new 330SX is top notch BTW... I really like the teal scheme.

Wow just had a look at the AJ 330sx like the plane that my be a better fit for me Instead of the Mamba I have 3 of Aj planes and all are great, one big plus it’s 3 hour drive from my place to Aj shop so I could just go and pick one up.

If you were to pick one up, how is the tax or duty handled at the border? Just curious.
When I was child my family visited Niagara Falls, Canada. My older cousin traveled with us and he bought a pack of small firecrackers there, my dad put in glove box. When we were crossing back to the USA, my mom ratted them out. The car was pulled over the border police searched the vehicle! My mom and dad never fought but it was a long ride home!

13% tax no matter what it is.so for me to bring something into Canada. If it costs $100 USD it gets converted to Canadian so that ends up to about $138 and then 13% so the item will cost me $156. It’s expensive for Canadians to buy stuff for the hobby. Let’s not talk about shipping to Canada it will often double the price.
