Building of the 30cc Slick 540 from Redwing RC!!!

I agree EF makes some nice planes, but in my experience, the only plane I've seen come apart in mid air is an EF 104. :?
I've been to a few events here and there and seen a bunch of 3dhs planes fly, never seen one come apart (in person).

Really EF plane? Somebody Had to forget to use CA in the build.

I was there... and this story getting twisted so I'm going to intervene:

the tail coming apart had nothing to do with the airframe, and those who were there that whole day know that, without a doubt.

The tail section was vibrating profusely due to very sloppy servos that were violently fluttering in flight on the elevator and rudder. This caused weakening of the airframe to such an extent that even Chris Hinson recommended it not fly without some serious maintenance. A brief inspection was performed by the owner, and one of the servos was replaced prior to the flight where the tail separated, but it was too little too late. Some lessons were learned that weekend, and life is all about learning from mistakes... so lets leave this issue alone now and call it a life lesson, ok?

And now back to the Redwing 30cc Slick 540....

Just trying to show that any aircraft can fail, whether it's due to poor maintenance, bad setup, etc. Cardenflyer paints a poor picture for 3dhs' airframes, when it simply isn't the case in my experience.

I agree that any airframe can fail at any time... But that's not what you said in your first post :p

I've also only seen one airplane come apart in mid air: my 3DHS 72" Extra had a wing fail in flight on its 18th flight...

As for cardenflyer, his experience with 3dhs airframes is his experience, and yours are yours... They're allowed to be different I think

FWIW, I'm amazed the airframes hold up to the abuse we subject them to. My favorite trick with my 58" Edge is to put it into a dive, pull up and corner the sticks to produce a violent "crankshaft" spinning the plane 4-5 times around the wing tube. I can't even begin to imagine the G-forces I put on the plane going from terminal velocity to a full stop and several flips in less than a second.. It's ejected the batteries once, but the airframe is still going strong.

Any airframe has its weak points, but for the most part, the airframes from the top vendors are pretty darn amazing when it comes to taking abuse!

So I got a package from Redwing that I wasn't expecting. Turns out my family ordered a set of xq4013s for my upcoming birthday. I have a little work to do now while I wait for my car to be finished. :D

Hey guys I got a 30cc slick today to build for a buddy. but i have one question I noticed a carbon fiber tube that goes from the root to the tip of the wing and at the tip of the wing it is open what is this for

I have that too.I just assumed it was for extra strength or rigidity. I am planning on a light kit for mine and it will work well for running the wires.
