Better late than never? Picked up a 71" slick dialed in with an Ice 100, CC BEC, MF 4325-280kv, align 610's, and 2 sets of 4s 4000 45-90 nanos (for 8s.) I flew both sets of pack today with a xoar 19x10 and let's just say I was underwhelmed compared to the same slick I had with a DLE-35. I love the MF motor and have a few others in my 57 and 48" birds so no complaints on quality, sound, etc. Is there a better prop for 3d on this motor? I like the idea of having one big E plane in the hangar but not at the expense of performance.
Tim,
I had this motor on my 70" Slick before upgrading to the 5320, and I'll say my performance was great, and nearly identical to that of my DLE-30.
The first area I'll suggest is batteries. I'm not a big fan of the nanos, I'm not sure what numbers you're getting with them, but I've found they sag under load easily, and don't ever perform at their published C-rating.
The second area I'll suggest is the Castle Ice 100. You might enure all the settings in there are optimized for max performance on the engine, and if you're still not seeing 2400watts or more, I'd suggest trying a different ESC to see if you get more power through.
Also, I liked the 19x10 for speed, but for 3D, you'd definitely be better off with either the 20x10 or 20x8. The motor can handle the 20x10 with good throttle management, I'd say give it a try.
the 5320 was absolutely insane. definitely a nice upgrade if you ever want to try it.
