Have to say, I like Happy Jack's Go Buggy. Can't say I've seen that one a lot. It seems to be a little less displayed than many others.

I do like that too! And the yellow and black will make a nice contrast so you can see it. My buddy Derek is wanting to re-cover his Top Flight P-51 with some yellow so he can see it better. Going to show him the "Go Buggy" scheme.

Besides working on the Velox, I played with the Mustang today. Shame on me. Couldn't resist. Bored out of my mind and so burned out on everything. So I had to get back in the mood. Did I mention this Don Smith is a lot of work? Hmm, yeah...LOTS of work. So the stab is built very similar to the fuse. Top half, sheet...flip over and build bottom half on top of the top half. Ugh... not my idea of great engineering but it should be plenty strong. It calls for 1/16" sheeting. Umm, not so much. I have found that sheeting that thin is just too weak to be working with. Especially on a plane this size. So the stabs/elevators will get 3/32" sheeting. This is what I have accomplished so far.



I started looking around for items I will need for this plane. One thing I will need is a good quality ESC for the starter motor. Who can suggest a quality ESC that will meet my demands? Here are a few photos of the projected components of part of the electrical system. I may not use the electronic controller. Just depends on what fuel pump I end up using. My understanding from Thomas Gass is that the ESC needs to be at least a 40A and 3s. He uses a 2s so that he can get a slower more scale like spin up on the prop. I want to use a 3s and then just program it through a channel with servo speed programming to spool up. Dang I love the Graupner MZ 32. If you can think it, the radio can do it.



I also machined some corrects sized spacers for the front engine hanger so I can still use the starter.

For a stabilizer 1/16 is to thin I agree 3/32 you can work with and still have some room to sand it to get it just right and not put your fingers through it. Plus you have a lot of weight upfront.

Just for reference 40% carden wings and tails are sheeted in 1/16”.
