Not much lately to report on the Big Stang. Many projects and many hours at work. The weather is cooler now and should get a little more free time for the build. The cooler weather had prompted myself and a few others to approach the powers that be within the club governing body. Since we have really no shelter from the cold wind and weather during this time of year, we decided to suggest hanging tarps from the shade awning and purchase a nice patio heater to place inside when we all decide to be brave enough to fly this winter. Happily, the board and members voted unanimously to allow me to direct such improvements. So, we now have a roughly 30' x 12' enclosed area within the awning. With the propane patio heater inside, we should stay quite toasty warm. Bring on the chilly, coffee, cold weather and awesome flying ma-chines. I am ready to get some laps in. LOL.
I did however make some progress today. One of the things I wanted to get out of the way was to get the anti rotation pins in place on the right wing sections. Getting those little bugers properly aligned can be a real p.i.t.a.! LOL. But am happy to report they are in and now I can continue with the right wing half construction. Next I will attach the leading edge to all the ribs and get the top spars placed and glued in. Next will be the sheeting and then...oh and then, the fun really begins. Flip the entire structure over, support at the right angle and start adding gear, servo rails, wiring harnesses...etc., etc. Oh yeah, looking forward to this. LOL
More to follow soon everyone.
