I have the Canopies ready for the Gages. B& E Graphics is going to make them up. I may have them by next weekend.

The Glue I used is a contact cement. BSI Foam Cure. I got it at Hobby Lobby. It works great with all the foams I tried it on. I tested the foam that I cut off the pilot to see if it would eat it up. Nope. Works great. I already knew it worked on Depron.

Both Planes are ready for Final assembly. The Cowl Cutouts, Canopy needs Glued and the Wheel pants need mounted yet.

Now we are to the part that I like doing. Assembly. :)

I like these new PAU tanks. They have a larger opening for the cap. I found my offset box end half inch wrench fits inside nicely. I turned the nipples the way I wanted and tightened them back up. pre assembled the tank and checked for fit. I bought a 17-oz tank cause my 35 seems to drink gas. that was what I had in the other plane so I'm familiar with it. The plane comes with a 12-oz. tank and that should be plenty for most people. Hint: I always run the vent line out the side that the McFueler is on. It is easier to see when the tank is full. If you run it down the middle the line may get in your way if you need to do something inside the tunnel.

Mounted the engine, muffler and hooked up the throttle. Cut out the bottom of the cowl and finished sanding the opening. Everything is hooked up and tightened up under the cowl.

I kicked it in gear and finished the Extra except I don't have the canopy glued on.
Mounted the Booma Switch. This is a pin switchthat is connected to an inline bat-share. Been using it all summer and it works great. The top light is the power indicator from the batteries. The bottom light is the ignition on indicator.
Mounting the wheels and the wheel pants. First I had to cut down the axle where it just fit inside the wheel pants. Then I put the plane on the building bench and leveled it by shimming up the tail wheel with a box and some old magazines.. This allows you to use the table top to level the bottom of the wheel pants. You will have to open up the slot that goes around the axle nut in the wheel pants. Don't over do this. open just enough for it to lay flat on the table. Transfer the hole with the tip of a sharp pencil.. I pre drill the center with a tiny drill bit to help guide the larger drill bit. Then drill the clearance drill for the T-nut.Install the T-nut and check it for allignement. If it's good, then Glue the T-nuts in place. Center the wheels and mark a flat spot for the setscrew on the outside of the wheel. Grind a flat with a Dremel.
The last thing was the springs for the tail wheel. I make my own when I'm not lazy. :) I use Glow fuel tubing. They are the only ones I found that works. The yello and black lines are to stiff and wont give. Look at the pictures to get an idea.

From Thursday.

This shows the ply supports I make for the outside of my wheel pants. This makes them last about 5 times longer.

Saturday and Sunday I finished the Extra. Just waiting on the Graphics to show up for both of the 35cc planes, plus my 120cc Extra

Sealed the hinge gaps. Balanced the plane on the center of the wing tube. Mounted the batteries and finished the out side brace on the wheel pants.
