Well, I can pretty much assure myself that my 60" is sitting on my doorstep while Im at work. I took the plunge last week, and bought a 60" EF Laser. Something else to fly when I dont want to get the gassers out.
Props were ordered after I spec'd the power system. Unfortunately, EF was out of the combo set for the Laser. So, I chose a S orpion power system, my older CC 110HV ESC, Savox 1250 HV servo(they are pretty new on the market). 6S Glacier 5000 pwer system packs, and a 1000 mAh Rx pack. Radio choice was easy! JR baby!! The XG11 is my weapon of choice. Rx is a RG831B. It is what I have on hand, and I thought I wouldnt use those non powersafe Rx's for anything.
When it came to spec'ing a power system, I sacrificed a little flying time for power. It may be too much power, but can there ever be too much?? But that is just a prop change and a battery voltage change that is easy. I use Ecalc to spec my system. $1.39 or so for a months subscription. I fought back and forth with myself on the kV of the kV of the motor. The higher the kV, the more power it draws on any given prop/battery/esc choice. I chose to stay around/under 100A. I plan on using the APC E 15x8 to start out on. I also have the APC E 16x8 as a secondary prop. With the system I chose to run, the Scorpion S II 4020-540, I will be producing right at 300W/lb on the 15x8, and even more on the 16x8. Mixed flying will yield me close to 6 minutes of flying on the 5000s.
So, kick back, relax and have your favorite adult beverage because this is gonna be 1 ride that will be too fast and too furious!
