I like 'em "BIG"!

Good engine choice. The 35RA is an awesome motor too. And will also adapt to the electric start. Really interested in seeing how it performs. Don't forget about the video.

No flights today:(

Wind conditions: 2-5 MPH right down the runway
Weather conditions: 90% blue sky
Battery conditions: 100% charged
Items forgot: None

Reason for not flying: ignition failure!

Good spark FROM ignition box.....not when connected to ignition sensor:(

Ordered new sensor from VVRC!

Ordered another ignition system from VVRC last night....FOUND one ignition cable TODAY, so if the weather holds, I hope to test fly Wednesday.

First two take-offs were TERRIBLE.....I was all over the runway, but managed to take off both times. First flight ended with a dead stick - with the DLE30 you cannot get to the needles:( and I was a bit on the rich side...so at idle, it quit....no big deal as it quit right over the end of the runway and it glided nicely to a three or four hop landing! Second flight ended with only one wheel as the left one departed just after take off....again no big deal as it landed and DIDN'T flip, just scrapped along!

Ailerons were 'mushy' but the rudder was POWERFUL and I think that was part of my problem with the take-offs. We dialed in -30% expo on the rudder but I think the tires 'bite' hard on the runway and don't slide at all requiring more rudder than necessary to keep it straight. Found the wheel, but lost the door 'knob' on the co-pilot's side.

Going to find a way to get into the needles from the outside today.

Exciting!!
With the full scale beaver, the ailerons are mushy. I've unofficially flown one. The rudder is where it's at. With all my tail draggers I refuse to limit my rates, Expo is great!
Did you file a flat spot on the wheel collar for the set screw? blue locktite?
I always have some sort of access to the needles on my planes without having to take the cowl off. There are lots of ways to tune a gas motor. Most folks opt for Terry Wiles method. It's worded more for larger gas engines, but the concept is the same.
