First two take-offs were TERRIBLE.....I was all over the runway, but managed to take off both times. First flight ended with a dead stick - with the DLE30 you cannot get to the needles
and I was a bit on the rich side...so at idle, it quit....no big deal as it quit right over the end of the runway and it glided nicely to a three or four hop landing! Second flight ended with only one wheel as the left one departed just after take off....again no big deal as it landed and DIDN'T flip, just scrapped along!
Ailerons were 'mushy' but the rudder was POWERFUL and I think that was part of my problem with the take-offs. We dialed in -30% expo on the rudder but I think the tires 'bite' hard on the runway and don't slide at all requiring more rudder than necessary to keep it straight. Found the wheel, but lost the door 'knob' on the co-pilot's side.
Going to find a way to get into the needles from the outside today.
