I’m going out flying thread 2019

Over 3 years of this airframe being "grounded" I finally got the "Re-Maiden" done . Flew with the Aura 8 turned off. Something askew with the aileron settings. Either to much gain or channel assignments for dual ailerons need to be changed/reversed in the Aura 8 itself. When switching on the gyro the wing oscillates bad. It flew Awesome though with out the Gyro. KE spins, water falls, pop tops, blinders etc....are effortless. The modified DL50 on cannister with a Mejzlik 22x8 CF prop was a beast. Accelerates going vertical. Instant throttle response. Very fast straight and level. I'm guessing about 90+mph. Probably well over 100mph with a 22x10. The iX12 was flawless and control was spot on. Really liked the feel of the new Spektrum servos.

Went flying yesterday a couple small wins for me. Had a flying buddy that I’ve been encouraging to do a stick build after he has successfully completed his foamy for learning aerobatics on. First off he was hovering the plane quite well ! Second off he built another foamy just because it looked fun!!! He told me he’s got the building bug thanks to my encouragement. Way cool! It makes me happy discussing the joy of building with another modeler!


Also a young kid stopped by to admire the planes flying. Seen him a few times now. He brought a Bluetooth boom box. I was getting ready to leave and was like... know what? Got anything with a good drum beat? He started playing some songs until he got my approval as I fueld up and took my 73” laser back up.
Five minutes in he was like Ooooohhhh you’re flying to the music beat! Ha ha ha (*insert facepalm emoji*)
It was fun, something I’ve never done before. Maybe I was really off!

Lots of fun.

Just heard that we’re getting a 16% increase in tourism here so we’ll see 1.2million tourists this season (a town with 33k) which directly effecects my flying time since the flying hours are governed by the tour buses... hmmmm

Went to a charity event on Saturday. When all was done, slightly more than $5k was raised for the cause, a multi-county cancer support network.

Unfortunately, I failed to take any photos of the turnout. Promise I’ll do better next time!

Weekend was just fabulous for getting the wheels up. Got the 50cc Extra Maiden done on Saturday and Sunday was for some relaxed stick pulling with two awesome electric planes. The QQ300 is now faster than the Cap232! Amazing flight envelope it now has and the power is incredible. Bunch of jets Sunday. A fellas F9F Panther was spectacular to see. Others such as Vipers, Jokers, and Bandits also filled the air with kerosene. My new buddy Richard is getting much better with the Alien Extra.

Don't you hate it when a small "ding" ends up costing a Benjamin and then some . That's why I go LARGE when it comes to dinging things up. Makes me feel I got my moneys worth .
