Falcon is like Mej. With less weight less cost and more options. I used to be a Vess guy, now everything I have is Falcon.

Im going to have to give them a try. Flymedic(Jeff) put one(28x9) on his 3W QQ red head 106 powered AW Edge and let me tickle the sticks and it runs better than ever now. I'll admit it had a XOAR laminated 28x10 before so not surprised it ran better. But still, it spools up fast and pulls hard. And its got rid of the sensitive little quirkey tuning issues the engine had. I liked it.

I've stayed away from this thread for awhile now. Give some time for it to sink in, etc......

I have read what TTA has written, again. It is all in how you sypher the info. The 4 items listed all are requests, recommendations. I really like the one about less than full throttle on flat passes. They are asking us to use any of the 4 options they list. It is not a requirement for quiet pipes, 3B props, soft mounts or no full power passes. This is just purely a recommendation, or suggestion as it seems. The requirement is that you utilize 1 of the 4 suggested recommendations.

I'd like to see the 3D line get back to 3D. I don't mind the occasional fast pass. But if that is all you want to go do, take it up to the main flight line.

I need to start saving up my pennies for fuel and Rv rental for 7 nights. Maybe a fire sale at Nall for gas money to get home!!

No matter what....its all un-enforceable and beholden on what someone thinks is loud.

-Assume you have no dB meter at the TT. Then its the line boss trying to determine whose plane is noisy. Sometimes its easy, other times its not when multiple planes are flying. And sound travels differently depending on the pitch. An electric geared plane can be very loud and noisy while a deep gasser may sound louder but technically isn't.

-Assume now you have dB meter at TT. If you perform per the AMA guidelines its done on the ground and can't be past 98dB. Way to big an event for everyone to perform that test......and its easy to pass that test with computer radios to limit throttle travel.

If done from the air......well that is always done from property lines and what the county/city code says for your area. i.e. it must not be louder than ambient noise for the area (like a field near high traffic can be higher than a field only near residential). Again, the dB meter if done in the air can't distinguish between aircraft....infact 2 aircraft may produce a louder noise than 1 alone. A plane flying close in, while quieter overall will register louder than a loud plane flown far away (even by ear).

-TT will have to physically have a person on hand who will be the noise "police" at each flight line. It will be unfair for some and tempers will flare and there will be those that just don't give a &$&$ and will fly however they want (happens with 1000+ pilots). Of course prop rips are easier to determine, but this is not the only focus of the TT memo. They want to curb loud flying before complaints happen.

YOU CANNOT STOP COMPLAINTS! I ran IMAC contests where a neighbor complained. We were 10dB below the legal limit. Still didn't stop her from complaining. She even accused us of flying over her home (it was full scale, not us as she was over a flight path). So no matter what they do....as long as they keep the event going and its attendance and length are that long people will complain.

Her brother lives at the end of our field and just woke up and realized that we fly airplanes at the field after we have been there for 9 years!

Been playing around with a sound meter from work. Interesting things happen. I will tell you that if you have anything at 50cc and above with a standard muffler, Pitts or any small muffler that bolts to the head you will not pass. We tried. Every way we could it would not drop down to the required DB level. What did make a difference by more than we thought was the ground you are over and the height the plane is from the ground. But we did all the testing with the plane on its wheels. The worst for noise is the 85 cc single cylinder engines.
