JTEC/RADIOWAVE 2.8m & 3.1m MX2

Cam,

I don't think it would fit in the cowl. It flies on a 100 and on a 120 it lacks nothing. A 150 will fly the 3.1 just fine. We did all the original testing with a 150 and Jerry Hailey flew a full season in IMAC on the 150 in the 3.1

I am demonstrating this, for those who wanted to know. I will not be doing this. But, since I had a DA 150L laying around! I tested it to see if it would fit in the cowl.

This is a DA 150L and behind it is the cowl for the 2.8 MX2

next picture, is a cowl for a Carden 40% Extra 300 (on the right side of the photograph), and to the left side of the photograph is the cowl to the 35% MX2.

Here is me putting the DA 150L inside the cowl of the MX2:

I would not recommend this. The spark plug tops are touching the sides of the cowl, and also "stretching" them out. No way it would fit inside the cowl, with the spark plug boots on. Plus, not needed! It will make balancing the airplane more difficult since a 150 motor weighs more than a 120 cc motor. (2.25 pounds more for the 150L vs the 120).

Soon, I will start my build thread of the MX2.

Hi Bobby, There is a build thread on one of the Canadian forums. I think it is called RC Canada. Problem with that website is, they advertise heavily on it. SO each page is cluttered with all kinds of advertising.

Thanks for the info. I will look for it.

Here are the pictures of Gordon's MX2

the other one, was built by someone else in Canada, but I do not know who that is. Gordon is trumpetman on the forums.

Cam has given you one for RC Canada that Gordon built which is a 2.8 MX2 http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/showthread.php?t=405922&highlight=MX2

His friend Alan ( aka scrappy ) on the RC canucks.com form built http://rccanucks.com/showthread.php?1211-Jtec-Radiowave-2-8m-MX2-Build(s)&highlight=Scrappy

Both Gordon and Alan built the 2.8 MX 2's. Alan's is the green one.

Scott H on RC Canada just picked up a 3.1 MX2 and has done a little posting on it but he is just getting started un boxing!!

Kim Quenette Has joined team JTEC/RADIOWAVE and will also be building a 3.1 MX2

The big difference in the build is on the 3.1 MX2 it now comes with a foam bottom.

The great thing about cutting kits in house we are always doing what we can to improve the kits both in quality and building!1

Cam,
Thanks for the Test fit of the 150. Also thank for letting people know it does not need a 150.

So here is the official mfg. comment!! The manufacturer ( us ) will void the warranty if the plane is built and operated out of the design specifications!!

What that means is nothing over a 120 for power on the 2.8 MX2

Al

Al, I wonder, have you also gotten that question? People want to know if the 150 will fit in the 2.8

I have had two people ask me thru the forums. SO I thought it would be a good idea to show it would not fit.

Cam,

We have and we give the same response. Its designed for a 100/120 and a decent 120 makes it ballistic!! it will fly great on a 100. I believe Alan on the RC Canucks site has a 100 in his on canisters. Unfortunately we can not control what people decide to put in it, but we have to stick to our design recommendations due to liability.

The original 3.1 MX was flown in IMAC for a full season on a Da150
