Hey, how did you know I built a trainer with a warped wing ! I liked to call it " modified washout" lol.

Well its a great looking heli, like to get one someday.

Still too damaged to sand today so I built something thats been sitting on the shelf for awhile... its called a Charger Axiol not sure if its a pattern or 3d foamie but it might be fun. Let ya know tomorrow it it flies or dies.

This is the first arf/foamie that I completed in the time frame they usually lie about on the box :victorious:

The technology today is amazing, when I was taught to fly just a few years ago on a glo trainer and a used eflite apprentice, and now we keep a new apprentice at the shop, with as3x and the S A F E system, wow, and thats just a few years difference, nearly 30 years between had to have been a trip.glad you took up an old passion, very cool.

This is the scheme I am going to use, with large black and white checks on bottom of wings and wider white stripes for visibility.

Its not a typical IMAC scheme , but my hat says " scale aerobatics" so im choosing a scale subject, too bad no points are awarded for best of show, cuz this is going to be a beauty!

I love the scheme, very clean and classic. Kind of reminds me of one I painted for a friend back in the early 90's. The first gasser I ever flew. I can't wait to see the finished product.

I almost went with something like thst on the tail but want to stay as close to scale as possible.good looking bird.

One half of one wing left to sand, very awkward sanding leftie, just dont feel right.hope to begin covering this weekend but theres an IMAC event in salinas I may attend, tough choice, start to finish or go have fun.

I dig the 230's wish there were more of them at fields, I almost went with something like that on the tail but trying to keep the scheme as close to the original as possible.

Have one half of one wing left and covering starts!

Tip on the hairspray technique, go lighter on the flying surfaces and weight them overnight on flat surface, I forgot to do that and ended up with 1/16" bow in aileron , on a 52" aileron its not a big deal but i want it perfect, spray again with water rub it in and weight... alot of weight. And all is well in the world again.

IT HAS BEGUN !! started covering last night, I've doubted my color choices and scheme selection and agonized over which one to use all the way up to laying the white stripe onto the stab. At that point I finally realized that it's exactly what I want and the colors are perfect together.

Thanks Jet, its Tony right ?

One side , stab and elevator done this weekend, found a really cool work surface at Lowes In the shower panel section, its like a 4x8 plastic cutting mat $ 21.00 ,

Not alot done this weekend, never seems to be , especially with such great football games on today ! we cleaned the shop of all sawdust and no longer needed items and organized a nice workstation prior to the first piece going on, oh and by the way... the top flite trim and stripe tool and the smart cut tool is a POS. Better off with a straight edge new razor and non caffinated hand.

Dont look too close its not perfect , still some final heat gun/ sock and small iron work to do ,but looks great from 3' or more away . this is only the 3rd airframe ive covered, one and two were a sig 4 star .40 and a great planes PT-40 trainer so this is fairly intimidating but no difference in application, just size and a want to make it perfect . I know how you guys are on the flight line when a new bird hits the field, no sin or blemish goes un noticed LOL.

Very exited to be finally covering , means its much closer to flying !
