Measuring throws on control surfaces

Hey stangflyer what is the smallest plane you have used your Hander 9 angle finder on?  Was wondering if it will also work on a 60" plane.

I have actually used it on most everything up to my 42% Extra. Had to get the longer bar for that big bird. Other than that, it will work on pretty much anything.

Thanks Stang and Ray.Just wish I could find the ones I bought. I really have to stop putting things where I THINK I will be able to find them. Perhaps I should just start putting every thing in my sock drawer.

You are very welcome. Just a suggestion cuz this is what works for me....(because I swear, I can lay something down and literally go to pick it up 2 seconds later and it is so "NOT" where I layed it down).... that being said, I had to start putting things where they absolutely don't belong. You know? Hobby knife on top of the coffee pot, allen wrench next to my X4 charger...etc. 'Bout the only way my confused mind can keep things straight. LOL....

My iPhone (5s) works perfectly as a digital angle meter for setting up the various throws based on the recommendations usually found in the manuals. The accuracy is easily under about one degree (it measures to the tenth of a degree). I found an app called "clinometer". It also allows you to zero it. Best of all, I allready had the phone and the app was only a dollar.

I use my iPhone and an app called Tiltmeter to level the plane.  Then I use a ruler to measure the up/down control surface movements for my High Rate switch.  Medium and Low rates are dialed back off the high rate.

Cheap and easy!

I use my Hangar 9 one to check wing incidence to stab incidence and side to side.  Works way good! I can dial in exact elevator throws for  each  half and for each flight mode.

I have used the iPhone anglemeter app to set mine. One note of caution: Do not lay the iPhone on its side unatended on the elevator half and then pull full up high rate elevator. Fast 400 Oz. servos will throw it about 3 feet.

Holy cow,I just found my missing batteries

   and I wasn't even looking for them,nor do I remember putting them there or why I WOULD put them there!! I better put them in my sock drawer before I loose them again.

That would work until you go to put a sock on and realize the batteries "somehow" mysteriously just rolled into your socks and those little critters are now stuck between your toes. hee hee

So... I crashed my EF 91" Extra a few months ago, and was out picking up all the pieces to bring them back to the pit area.   The plane was in splinters, so I was just stuffing things in my pockets, in what was left of the fuse, etc.. 

All of a sudden, one of the guys said "hey Mike, your pocket is smoking"... I jumped up, grabbed everything in the pocket and threw it out on the ground.  I had an A123 battery in there, and the wires coming out of it had stripped the insulation off during the crash.  Luckily, it was an A123, and the smoke was just coming from the melting wire insulation... if I had LiPo on there, I'd be in deep weeds!
