Scale Mick Reeves 1/3 scale Tiger Moth

Friend of mine use to have the 100cc Beast. I helped him put it together one morning at the field. By the time it was ready to go we were both too worn out to fly.

Doesn't the full size Tiger Moth have folding wings?

Glue!!! Omg I used glue for the first time in years..........

And my Perma Grit sanding blocks. I had to dust them off........

The fuse builds in 3 sections. Close to gluing up side 1 of section 1.

I cut both sides while I was at it.

I ran out of 1/4" spruce so I cut my own.

I had some leftover from the Cub kit.

The wing area of the Mick Reeves Tiger Moth seems to be a guarded secret. I found the full scale is 239 square foot, so the 1/3 scale comes in at 3824 square inches, that's a lot of wing! At the advertised weight of 30 pounds, the cubic loading is 3.51which puts it in the glider category.

I’m going to pull out a wing plan and double check the ws.

WQL of 3.51 is very low. It will be very wind sensitive. Will not take a lot of motor to get it off the ground. Landing speed will less than walking speed.
