I had a set of those once, didn't look right just flush gluing to the dash panel so I thought I could chuck them up in the lathe and remove the back flange, first one when well, the rest went south! You have the hole in the plywood so you can drill holes in the dash panel and insert the gauges from the rear, will look great. The I Fly Tallies gauges really do look great. They were trying to sell the business when I got my gauges a couples months ago.
Thinking about checking out these guys for my panel http://www.sacmidwest.com/products.php#custom_panels
Found this on line. If you want Cub gauges you could install the four white colored gauges in the I fly Tallies housings. They are the same size as the I Fly gauges. https://www.dbalsa.com/accessories/scale_gauges.htm. My search indicated these were designed by Bob Nelitz.
