    Welcome!

Ohio rc extra 300s 84"

I took my plane up yesterday after 16 yrs of sitting busted up "angry wife don't ask" anyways I've rebuild/repaired it and knowing my cg was 1/2" aft I thought it would be forgiving . Lesson learned it wasn't it wanted to climb like a bat out of hell lol. And after some very nervous flying I brought her down and just about ran out of runway had to keep giving a uncomfortable amount of down elevator to get it on the ground whew! Not a scratch on it . So today I ended up adding weight even though it went against every fiber in me to the amount of 1.5lbs ! But it is balanced now I had already moved components as far forward as possible while keeping separation ignition and receiver etc ... Anyone else ever added this much lead to their plane? Total weight came out at 20 lbs

Boy does that bring back some memories. Nice to see one again. So does the engine you gat that from Ohio RC As well, recognized the white ring on the blue motor for ignition advance. Thanks for sharing.
Can’t believe you managed to land a plane that needed one and half lbs of lead in the nose good flying.

Thanks Snoopy! Not going to lie I was shaking like crazy haha. And yeah that's a brison 3.2 motor runs like a top always has . I'm running a 22x8 prop best I can get is 6800 according to my tac but plenty of power and runs pretty cool

Boy that is a lot of weight. Yes I have added 1/2lb before, but 1.5 is just nutz! No fun flying a super tail heavy plane, it's like having the tail on negative 70% expo. good work bringing it down safely!

I moved components from one (crashed) Pilot 107" Yak to another Pilot Yak and ended up with the batteries halfway back in the fuse. Very odd as this is my 3rd Yak but it balanced. However, I had several club members verify the balance before I took off the for the first time.

I never had lead in this plane originally many years ago and it flew great . Now that I've rebuilt it I didn't change anything except a couple small gussets on the rudder some glue rest of the rebuild was basically up front oh and added a extension to the back so I could run my elevator halves on separate chanels instead of a y harness. new cowling and canopy electronics. same engine and such but some how it's 3 lbs lighter than it was even after the lead I really don't know it's odd for me to

I did use ultracote instead of monocoat this time maybe it's a little lighter lol
You could put thick washers between the rear of your standoffs and the firewall or slightly longer standoffs to move your engine forward a little to take some of that dead weight out of your plane. I hate to add weight.

I already did that very thing moved the motor forward 1/4 inch it didn't seem to make much difference . I have been considering making a tray over top the motor for the ignition and battery not much room but I think they would fit but kinda worried about heat not sure yet

Boy, that is very weird, so much difference after sitting so long. Do you remember why you stopped flying it years ago? If the plane was hanging, lets say, could the wing incidence have changed? Engine thrust angle changed? There must be some explanation for having to add so much weight. Let us know what you come up with.
