Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

A little progress after work. The elevator servo installation and programming was a walk in the park. Granted, I did have to swap out titanium turnbuckles to accommodate the different distance between servo arm and the elevator control horn. But that was pretty quick. Adjusted them down until my surfaces were close, powered up the system and made the last couple of adjustments before trimming and programming the radio. I ended up with a little over 48 degrees of throw up and down. I could get more with longer arms, but why? Lol




The tail looks pretty good. And mostly done. I did however swap out the tail wheel tiller for my White Rose.



I'm headed off to bed now. Tomorrow will be another day.

Not much accomplished tonight fellas. No steam... But I did at least manage to connect the rudder to the tail wheel tiller for steering.



She's on the stands and waiting for the new KS Comfort Headers. They should ne here tomorrow... maybe Friday at the latest. Do I detect the distant rip of a Falcon 32x10? Hopefully Saturday will be the day to fire the 157cs back up. She's napped long enough, don't y'all think?

Quite a bit accomplished tonight guys. The post man was so kind as to leave a very much needed package from the "G" man. Yup, those rascal KS Comfort Headers made it today.

So I went to work bolting them down to my favorite header board. Bolt them down, stuff a wooden dowel in the open end and start reefing. They are quite stout so it takes time to get just the right angle. A little bend here, a little bend there, here a bend, there a bend, everywhere a little bendy bend... ole McDonald...oh crap, wrong song. Lol.

Before we know it, we have custom bent headers. I figure a finger thickness between the throttle arm and choke arm should be sufficient right?


And now after removing the rubber non crush rings, we have a completed exhaust system .

I have the fuse pretty much done now. Everything is in except the flight packs. I still have a little clean up and trim work to do on the front motor box former. Oh yeah, and a new set of NGK's for the 157cs. Looks like we get to wake up the sleeping beasty this weekend. I'm going to shoot for getting the wing servos in and programmed tomorrow. We are rapidly closing the gap on finishing this bird. A maiden is just around the corner.

Oh one more thing. It looks as though we're going to miss that 35-37 pound mark. After weighing everything tonight, the Big 330 is tipping the scales at around 39ish pounds. Oh well, we tried.

Change of plans. I chose to toss a couple of flight packs and the Falcon 32x10 at the new 330. I just couldn't resist or wait. The wings can be done later. But tonight after work was all devoted to awakening the beat 157cs. Due to being pulled apart to update the induction system, she was as dry as a brand new engine. Drier than Sahara Desert. But after a few flips, she waa purring like a kitten at idle and roaring like a lion at wide open throttle. I am however a little disappointed. The performance did not increase like my 170 when I did all the updates on it. With the 170 it was like turning on a light switch. Don't get me wrong, the 157 CS runs as good as it ever did. I was just hoping for a little more. LOL. What is that old saying? The more you get the more you want! Anyway, we are almost there. The fuse is pretty much done. All that is left is paint the cowl and canopy, recover the hatch, and put the servos in the wings.
