Damn I'm hungry
Is that paint lacquer base? I bet it is automotive quality from a spray can. Probably pPg he uses to make the cans up so I can see the cost of the spray paint.

I am not sure Kelly if it is lacquer base. I can tell you that it is base coat clear coat. I was told the reason why it is so expensive is because they match the paint to the covering. Much to my dismay, I will probably have as much in painting as I do in the entire airframe once I am done.

The amount I spent getting my ViperST cowl painted from the same person was a little to much but I have to say the colour paint was fantastic to use and the match was excellent, the only thing the primer sucked do know if I got a bad can or what but I just used a standard primer and everything come out great but yes the price is steep, but it seems he is The only option in town.

Shot the white and will let it cure for a couple of hours. I'll unmask the cowl halves and put them on the 330 to check my paint line alignment. Then, back to masking tomorrow and we'll shoot either black or finish the green. Just not sure yet. Nice to know I have options. Lol.

I'll try to post some photos later fellas.

As promised, here are a couple of photos of what I've got done recently. I have to say I'm very impressed with the white paint this time versus when I did my Jtec Pitts. The white paint sprayed out and laid up just as nicely as the green or any other color I have used so far. As it stands, the paint that I have shot on the cowl so far is a spot on match. It's a little off on the shade however that will change as soon as the clear coat is on. I had almost decided not to shoot another coat of green on the top of the cowl, however there is a couple of light spots so I will probably go ahead and shoot one more coat. The bottom half however needs to full coats. I believe I will probably do the green tonight to get that out of the way. Then all that will be left is the black stripe through the center of the cowl.

I am very pleased so far. I have said this before and I will say it again. The pain is considerably more expensive than most paints. However the paint match and the ease of the product sure makes all of it worth it. I will do my best to get more photos this evening. I am getting so overwhelmingly excited to see this finally assembled.

Looks really good nice when a good plane comes together. The only thing there could be a bad side to all this if you start receiving unpainted cowls in the Mail you will know why.

So I discovered a new awesome reason I like this paint. It is incredibly forgiving. Stupid in a hurry me almost totally blew it. It went something like this. After masking the cowl halves I wanted to make darn certain I left no body oil thru fingerprints. I grab my handy dandy alcohol and moisten a white paper towel. Works great for primer, why not paint, right? Oh so... WROOOONG!!!! The green paint started coming off on the towel. Damn!!! So I stopped. Let it dry, and hoped I didn't just royally mess up. Well what do you know? I had to shoot two coats on the top cowl half instead of the planned numero uno. I had no idea how it was going to come out, let alone did I have enough green now to finish the bottom half? Ugh!!! Here is how it all came out in the wash. (Pun intended)

Thankfully I lucked out. Very fortunate. And now I can let this cure up until tomorrow. I will then mask the lower cowl half and shoot the last remaining color. Black! And two days to cure after that will put us into clearing everything Friday. The weather has been awesome for doing this outside. Let's all hope for just a couple more days with no excessive wind or rain.

More tomorrow everyone.

We're back in black... or, what is black and white and green all over?

Virtually, the paint just continues to flow quite nicely. Black is now done. (Obviously) I need to wait until tomorrow to clear all the painted parts. Sheesh... this all happened quite quickly. Definately going to be a maiden in a little over a week. Planned for a week from this weekend. Ah, but first the final fit and photo session.

I am so excited.
