One last thing. I have to sand a lot because I'm simply not very good at getting things right the first time. I've tried every type of sandpaper on the planet. What I've found that works the best for me is the paper that they make to go on the square sanders for refinishing hardwood floors. I've had a little experience at that (like more than entire house worth) and that's when I discovered this paper. You can get it at Home Depot. It's in the tool rental center, in the back by the sanders. They have a multitude of different grits and it comes a removable plastic backing that covers an adhesive grip. You can cut a 8x3 piece, remove the plastic, fold it over on itself and its pretty dang stiff. Not quite like a sanding block, but close.
