Something real weird to share with you all...

I purchased this prop brand new. 30 x 13 EVO prop. I used it on an IMAC airplane with a 170 cc engine and stock muffs. Worked well.
I upgraded airplanes, and had this laying around. I flew it for maybe 20 flights or so. Never a nose over or a prop strike, never involved in a crash.
OK, prop was just collecting dust, my buddy needed a prop, so I sold it to him for 80 Dollars. He competed in 3 competitions with it,. He has put over 40 flights with this prop.
we flew on Wednesday and again today.
He brings his plane and sets it up, he cranks it up, takes off, turns to head north, climbing at about 30 degrees or so, temps are about 101 F, and crosswind from west. All of a sudden, we heard a "POP", kind of like a back fire, or something, he immediately cut the power and lands it.
Brings it back in, and we start to inspect it, I immediately noticed this....
SO , it looks like it delaminated on one side. Good thing my buddy immediately brought the power down. I could imagine, had he throttled up again, that one side would have flown off, maybe hitting the wings or the stabs/fin, then it having only one prop on, would have created incredible out of balance, that would have made the nose shake so much, could have damaged the motor-box!
But of course none of this happened!!
We were very lucky.
Ok, someone suggested: Maybe the prop hit something during transport or it was tapped.
Someone else said, maybe a rock on the ground (do not believe so because if you inspect the prop blades, not a single chip)
I think, maybe he hit a Louisiana bug (up ion the air) that was maybe bigger than most?
