Power boards/expanders really needed?

OK so I got myself some Spektrum power safe receivers. For my planes that don't have HV servos I think TDRC A123 batts are the way to go?

For the planes that have HV servos I'm gonna have to look into the batteries you mentioned.

Thanks again for the input I did take it seriously!

Terry, you mentioned Pulse Lipos....

I am setting up a new H9 120cc Extra 300X with a DA 120. I have Hitec 7955 servos for the rons, and Elevators, and a 7990 on the rudder. Also an HV for throttle. I have a Spektrum 12120 rx that I plan to use.

Is this the battery that you would recommend to get about 5-6 flights before recharging? Is the 15C rating enough? http://www.pulsebattery.com/pulse-2550mah-2s-7-4v-15c-receiver-battery-lipo-battery.html

I appreciate all the help you've provided thus far!

FWIW, I have two (2) 2200 mAh Glacier Lipos (2S) feeding a 9 channel spektrum powersafe. Which feeds six (6) savox 1270tg's, one (1) savox SB-2231 (rudder), Hitec 5665 on throttle, and a tech aero IBC for the DA100. A ten minute flight (IMAC flying) reduces the voltage in each pack by 0.2 volts. I usually put four flights on them and then swap out at a pack voltage of 7.6 volts. The glacier packs are rated at 30C, but 15C should be plenty (using your spec'd batts above that would be good for 2.55A x2 x15=76.5Amps). If you want more flight time before changing out, you may wish to go with bigger batts like Xpress did.

Again thanks for the info. I need to look again to see what the weight difference is between the batteries I linked and the bigger packs.

Do you guys always remove the lipo packs before charging them?

Yes, always. Just in case something were to happen (though rare), i would rather the battery catch fire on a concrete floor than burn up my airframe. I use velcro on the batt and airframe to keep from sliding and a velcro strap to hold down. Quick and easy to remove and install.

Yeah I agree, 15C should be more than enough. Can't wait to see that bird assembled.
