I want a mill SOOOOO bad but don't need one much. I've got money in the bank just can't pull the trigger.... I don't need another hobby mainly.

Not another hobby just another tool for your hobby.
The jury struts are made from KS 3/8" aluminum streamline tube and 3/16" round tube. It is amazing how much stiffness they add while each component on it own is rather flimsy. I guess it's time for this right winger to move to the left!

The left side main strut came out much better than the right, by a stroke of luck I ended up getting three pieces of tube for the main strut. I do believe I will redo the right side. I learned a thing or two while silver brazing the right side, how to heat to avoid overheating. The tubing is only .020" thick so it doesn't take much to overheat it.

I have been doing some deep frying with the turkey fryer lately and decided it was time to change the oil. Sounded like a good time to heat treat the tail wheels springs. The springs parts are made from 1095 annealed steel and require heat treatment. The parts were first hardened by heating with the Ox/Acte torch to an orange color and tested with a magnetic screw driver to ensure they became non magnetic, then quenched in the old vegetable oil. After hardening the parts were tested with a file, I had to redo one leaf. Once hardened the file just glides on the steel with little resistance. The parts were then cleaned and tempered in the propane grill at 600 degrees f for 90 minutes followed by a slow cool. The parts were sitting on a concrete brick to keep the temperature rather constant during the process. Now I'm going to cook some hot dogs on the the grill!!!
