Resurrecting an Old Favorite - 3DHS 87" Extra SHP

Thanks! Just finished rehinging the elevators and doing some minor repairs on the wings (primarily mouse related while they were in storage.... ). Sealing the hinge gaps now and will install servos next. Might Re-Maiden this thing on Christmas Day! ( in the back yard).

I'll post some pics as it comes together. Meanwhile.....Merry Christmas everyone!

Hmm....I "LIKE". LOL...seriously though, that thing came back together in top shelf fashion. Awesome job Earle. Definitely something to be proud of huh?

Thanks! It's been an enjoyable challenge.

Got all the tail feathers installed and functional. Wings are ready for servos. Then I can slip them on and see where I need to put the batts for CG.

Christmas may interfere with final details, but it'll fly sooner than later!

It's a new year and a new plane....well, sorta new! Wings are repaired (just some slight damage)....slid them on the tube and checked incidences. Some minor adjustments to the holes in the fuse and both were dead on at zero.

CG with empty tank is just slightly tail heavy, but this plane is very forgiving so the re-maiden won't be any problem. Batts are in the motorbox right now....we'll see how she flies before making any moves with them. A few minor details to work on and with the bitter cold moving in this week, looks like I'll have plenty of time to attend to those before flying her.

In a word... WOW... Looks like it's SHP party time once it warms up a bit ... Excellent rebuild show, Earle. Can't wait for the re-maiden!

Looks as good as new. Now the long part waiting for the right day to fly it. With the weather I am having in my area it will be 4 months before I could test fly it.
