This is my setup and it works well for me, but this is not saying its the only one, you might use this as a basic guide line

Thank You! Are you using NiChrome wire as well? Tony is using 22gauge 0.025", I check my bow and it's the same currently. Just ordered some... it's about $8 for 100ft.
Do you have a part number on your variac that I can use to look for one? I like that you have adjust the transformer output.

I use plain carbon steel wire, not nichrome. NiChrome has higher resistance and requires higher voltage.

A piece of MIG welding wire works great as well.

I might have to try the mig wire, since when hot I think nichrome wire will stretch , what do you guys think

a lot of work here to fit an old laser canopy , maybe I should have made a new one in retrospect, also the 3D printed wheels and tires fitted with a metal insert, and collar made on the lathe, set screw too long need to get shorter ones

I run 14 volts at 7 amps on .025" wire.
