Well I got 95% of the joists hung. About a 15 ft section left!!!!.

Also after much deliberation and moving 25 sheets of 7/16 OSB.....I decided it is just too heavy for the ceiling. So I took it back to HD and got 5mm flooring sheets. (Basically thin plywood). I started painting it too. It will cause a slight issue on the side walls but I can fix it as I go.

So the issue is that I used a small piece of OSB as my spacer for the ceiling joists. Basically the side walls have a 2x6 that the OSB was going to lay on and then this in turn would make the OSB flush with the trusses. Hence I painted the bottom of the trusses black so I would have a black outline on the ceiling in 4 areas.

Since I am no longer going with the OSB (it was 7/16 but actually closer to 1/2 in thickness) my new ceiling will sit higher as its fastened to the joists. I have 2 potential fixes.

1. do nothing and let the ceiling sag naturally along the side walls.
2. cut my scrap OSB (or get some inexpensive molding) that is 1/2 in thick and apply it to the top of all the beams. This way the ceiling is supported on the ends and lines up more flush with the joists.

Either way I have to go back with black paint and paint up a touch higher on all the joists before I hang the ceiling.

I'm not a carpenter....but I am a problem solver!

The ceiling is going up either this week or this weekend. Depends on if/when my Dad comes out. He hurt his back last week, so if he feels good enough to help this week great...if not, I'll start by myself this weekend. I might go get my cabinets this weekend also. Not sure on that yet.

Well...its fixed for .80 an 8ft section!

Put on s final coat of white on the first set of ceiling. Tomorrow I move them and paint the black. And more ceiling. I still have a small section to add joists but the painting needs to be finished!

Not much to update....my pops showed up for a week. We painted all the black and did 2 coats of white on 10 more sheets of ceiling. Our plan is to hang ceiling Friday or Saturday depending on if Sunday is a free rental day.
